Reporting High Latency and Packet Loss During Peak Hours

I noticed the issue upon logging in and joining an instance (8:00PM EST).
Gameplay was noticeably worse and abilities would periodically not register.
The issue became progressively worse throughout the evening until about 9:30PM when symptoms lessened.

Traceroute software reports higher than normal latency and packet loss occurring between NTT (Ashburn, VA) and NTT (San Jose, CA).

During off-peak hours, the latency for routes after hop 6 average roughly 90ms.

    Thank you for your assistance.

They won't fix it since they'd have to talk to their ISP, which they won't do. They'll likely just tell you to open some ports among other things. If it gets too bad for you then you'll have to resort to a VPN/GPN like some of us have had to do. I wish I could give better news but this has been a thing for some of those NTT nodes for pretty much all of stormblood.

Rest assured it isn't actually your fault, as much as they want to play the long con and say it is. You aren't alone.

Yeah, I'm getting unplayably high ping (500+ms) right now and have been for two days straight from the same NTT nodes people have been complaining about for, at this point, literal years.

I guess I'm not renewing my subscription, since I can't actually play the game I'm paying for.

Same here. Just started about 2 days ago. Normally I get around 30ms, but the ntt.net servers have completely congested the line:

The same thing happened to me LITERALLY two days ago as well. 9/26/2018 at roughly 7pm eastern and it has continued to today. Ever since 4.4 for me.
I've opened all the recommenced ports on top all the other troubleshootings posted in the threads Mesarthim linked. I've also had my internet people at WoWay come over three times, and this lag does not occur in my speedtests or any other games.

Sending, at prime time, is usually around 0-50
Receiving, at prime time, is usually around: 600-4000
    And this varies per second.

Final Fantasy 14 has become unplayable during prime time when I get home and, at the moment, I cannot afford to pay for a VPN or GPN program like Mudfish or anything similar.

Same issue for me as well. It's only been an issue since the release of 4.4. Until 11 PM EST, the game is nearly unplayable. I can't react in time to mechanics. I know it is not entirely my ISP, because voice chat and other programs do not experience anywhere near as much delay. I was actually raiding last night with people calling out attacks on voice chat, because I would hear them before I would see the attack indicators in game.

Yeah and you notice how each time Square Enix is called out on this they are mysteriously absent from discussions?

Well, technically, its not them, its their ISP from the looks of it. But it isn't like we can contact their ISP on their behalf. Someone on their end needs to pick up a phone, which they probably wouldn't tell us about here.

I just came back the week of 4.4 after a long break, and am also experiencing some latency issues. This wasn't a problem before I left, which was a few weeks after Anemos was released. Not enough to make the game unplayable, but definitely enough to make dungeons/raids semi annoying. It's not as bad in the early morning hours (EST), but it's still present to some degree even then. It's not just in instances either, it's everywhere. Not the first time this has happened though, and it won't last. I wish it wouldn't have to happen at all though. I play on PC, and may see about setting my PS4 up again to see how it fares. No other games and such are affected as far as I'm aware. It's just FF XIV.

Yeah that's very well documented by the community at this point. I wouldn't expect SE to be transparent about the matter either way even if they are doing stuff behind the scenes without a word. it's been over a year now so...
