You obviously still need to work on your communication skills. I highly recommend you re-read Vidu's post, because you took everything she said out of context. Her point was- your playing style was so unapologetically terrible that it's impossible for people to tell if you really are just that bad or if you were being that bad on purpose to grief the rest of the party. And that adding emote spam to it (as redcurrant18 very poorly suggested you do) would only add more weight to the "he's probably trolling us" belief.
Agreeing with reducrrant18 in this case is a mistake. Please reconsider it. Don't side with someone just because he patted your head and gave you a cookie and told you not to listen to those meanies on the OF or you party. In this particular instance, the meanies have a valid point and you have a good lesson to learn from it if you are willing to listen.

So this thread didn't reveal only 1 problem player but 2. Interesting.
Exactly.
There's a phrase 'my right to swing my fist ends at the other man's nose.' Or something like that.
It's fine if your rotation isn't perfect or you make mistakes here and there, but when what you do keeps the group from succeeding there's a problem. As far as spamming enmity as the off tank, I can see someone doing that JUST ENOUGH to make sure they're number 2 in enmity so that if the MT dies the boss goes right to them, but that's it. Like you say doing it until the boss turns to you is bad.
Sure people have a right to 'play how they want' but in cooperative content like this, other people have a right to dismiss you if you're not up to snuff. So far in Alphascape I haven't seen ANYONE get vote kicked unless they disconnected and didn't come back within a couple minutes. Including Chaos and Midgar runs where dps was so low the aether meter got up to 98% before the dps check was cleared, but nobody was getting kicked.
Flukes may happen here and there, but if someone is frequently getting vote kicked for poor performance, the problem probably isn't with the rest of the group.
Now I'm not saying kicking should be the first recourse, offer constructive criticism and advice first. Like 'go sword oath if you're off tanking' or 'keep heavy thrust up on the boss so you'll do more damage' or 'use your aoe on track packs.' Or whatever for the situation, but if people refuse to take helpful advice and continue to drag down the group, don't carry them.
I wasnt even replying to you at that point, but to redcurrant18 because I was considering his advice to be a bad one and wanted to comment on that.
You might not have been intentionally griefing, but never the less: It were your actions that caused the wipe and it were actions that could very well be interpreted as "Oh, this guy is just trolling". Your party cant read your mind to know that you just dont know what you're doing.
They could read that, if you'd only type it out in partychat and ask for advice though.
I'd very much advice you to start working with your parties - letting them know that you're new and trying to improve and would welcome (polite) advice could go a long way.
Instead you choose to agree with someone whos suggesting to even make fun of the parties you're in once they signal you that they dont approve of you or your playstyle - bravo! You obviously still dont understand what your fundamental problem is.
Even if you blurred out your name in the screenshot the OF still displayed your name for us all to see until you removed that character from your profile. The reddit post was made because this entire thread turned into something hilarious, mostly due to your denial. You put yourself out here for everyone to see trying to get pity over a single kick from df and are now upset that the whole story came out.if Making a reddit post is any better drawing more attention it's like all of you are obsessed with me, and to be fair i'm not too happy about my name not being blured, at least i was kind of enough to blur the persons name when they sent the message, after taking a day off the forums and also researching info about my class etc, all i ask now is to just let this thread die off there's not point to continueing it.
You could have chosen to simply report the person who insulted you and moved on with your life but you decided to post it here. You got called out and immediately got defensive, refusing help from those who offered it acting as if something as irrelevant as player comms somehow equates to skill and then once you realized that no one was on your side you throw out the big bad word "elitist" and continue to act like the victim. You would have been better off keeping quiet once the full story came out if you didn't want to accept any advice from those nice enough to offer it to you.
can't wait to tune in for the next episode
Oh lord I didn't realise how helpless this guy was. I didn't really go through the whole thread but like...this is basic tanking 101 stuff. Maybe a trip to the Hall of the Novice would be helpful here...it exists for a reason...Even I used it back when I had no idea how to play anything other than DPS. This is a mess. Warp to Aleport and take a right when you exit the gates. You'll be there in no time

Funny thing is that the Hall of Novice basically gives almost every instructions you need to do in specific roles, yet not many choose to do this to learn something.
Found some links that would be helpful to OP as well, God knows I was an awful tank before I sat myself down and took the time to figure everything out before going back to parties:

Really most of the drama I get into is superficial stuff but when it comes to the basics I don't deal with that. *warps out*
