This isn't really in regards to OP, but just about the recurring topic of Mist Dragon in terms of difficulty.

I've never seen a wipe to Mist Dragon. I've even seen it die more than once before it got to use the Deep Fog mechanic, so there wasn't even any need to dodge the cauterizes. And this is running it multiple times a day on multiple characters so far to cap tomes. I'm not sure what it is about it that is so challenging for people?

Although it doesn't really qualify as "casual content" I thinbk Suzaku EX is hard af. Not the foight itself, biuut the mechanic. This boss has nothing, excapt those damn platforms. This is just annoying. Not hard, not fun, not anyhing. Just annoying. And it would be be waste of everybodys time, if it wasn't for the weapons.
Whoever made this fight should really reconsider his calling.

So.. on topic: I don't think that the difficulty hasn't increased. But wehereas the new Dungeons are fun and enganging, even Alphascape normal ist quite good, Suzaku is proof that SE is, in reality LJN

The Mist Dragon is the only boss I know of in the game that is certain guaranteed death, or all but if the healer gets hit with the AoE.

It does 60% or more of a healer's health in damage at ~350-355 iLevel, and it stuns them for 5-6 seconds, and it puts a DoT that does ~15% health per tick. 3 ticks is death if they did not have a HoT on them at the time.

I don't know of any other MSQ boss that can do anywhere near that much damage in that short of time. No RDM/SMN/PLD = you're done if the healer gets hit with it.

Also, it spams group-wide AoE in fairly quick succession. Rime Wreath is unavoidable and oftentimes right after other AoEs, such as the ice breath (which also puts that ludicrously OP DoT on anybody it hits), the star AoE can oftentimes overlaps and only has a 1.5-ish tell that doesn't give you enough time to get out of it if two of them overlap (which happens rather often). It, too, does the whole cheap Stun+DoT.

No other MSQ boss comes close to this difficulty.

You must be getting absolutely godly geared groups then, because every single time I get it, the dragon lasts quite awhile after the dive bomb phase.

BLM too. Erase has a use!

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

It also has a long cooldown, and I've never once seen a BLM cast Erase. Expecting your average Duty Finder BLM to know what Erase is, or have the forethought to actually cast it.... meh. I'd rather not. I mean, there's Mana Shift, and I think out of every 20+ BLMs, I'll see 1 that uses it on the healer.

That's not the only AoE that does stun+DoT, though. The star-shaped AoE, and his targeted dragon breath. It only takes one idiot mnk, nin, sam, etc to run circles around the dragon becuase they don't know what the blue marker means and then before you know it, BAM. you're almost dead and can't do anything but watch your character die. Or, during the phase where he puts two stars on the ground, and you happen to be standing where there's two spokes side by side.... and not enough time to run to get out of it. BAM stun+dot.

Have y'all ran Rabanastre and Ridorana lately? I could've sworn those alliance raids were new this patch too, with the lack of mechanics being done correctly, players not dodging and getting hit by the same telegraphed AoEs, not stacking, ignoring markers, DPS ignoring adds, healers not healing enough, Tanks not picking up adds during transitions, the wipes that came with, etc. You get the point.

That same player in Alliance B that ran over to marker A and dropped a second comet on and wiping Alliance A is now in Alphascape double stacking AoE markers, disbanding after 5 wipes and calling it too hard for the casual.
