    Any ultrawide monitor players here?

So, I've decided to replace my old 4K 60hz monitor with a new 3440x1440p UW IPS 100hz with gsync. It'll be a slight graphical downgrade from 4k, but with my 1080ti I should be able to max out settings on my new monitor and higher refresh rate and gsync will make it feel smoother. Or at least that's what I'm hoping.

Obviously it'll be awesome for games like Fallout, Borderlands, and other FPS games, but I'm wondering how it feels for FFXIV? Can anyone tell me their experience with it?

Game looks great on ultrawide 3440x1440, your FPS will vary widely from place to place depending on the number of players. I'm running 1080Ti (i7-4790k @4Ghz) and if there are a LOT of players you can dip down to 55fps on Maximum settings, most of the time fps sits between 75-110fps. I dont have Gsync so your'll experience will probably be better and my CPU is probably holding fps back in area's heavy with players.

I hope to buy the ROG Swift with HDR sometime late this year. Can't wait!

Runs great on ultrawide for me and I'm on a 1070 GPU. The only thing that took some getting used to was the way Cutscenes and the like will display in a vertical letterbox instead of taking advantage of the whole screen. I guess there's nothing to be done for that, but regular gameplay and wandering around looks downright cinematic.

Also a wide monitor person here, and I love how much extra field of vision it grants, great for raids or PvP

I absolutely adore it. Though, I tend to with just about any game that supports it anyways. If you're a fan of the maps, scenery and overall look and feel in this game then I am sure you'll appreciate it.

As has already been mentioned though, you need to be ready to be ready to compromise on cutscenes as they will default to 16:9. Prior to getting FF, I was really concerned about this since I watch and read absolutely everything in this game - several times, in fact, given I have many alts - and I was worried it would butcher my experience a bit since I really do enjoy cutscenes.... but honestly, just like anything else, you quickly get used to it and forget its even there once you set your mind on the actual scene. Also, this of course will extend to certain movies and videos you might want to watch in full screen so its hardly an "FF issue".

On the off-chance you record clips and upload videos though, keep in mind that 21:9 will make letter-boxing unavoidable - to the best of my knowledge anyways.

Nice. I feel like I made a good choice. Thanks everyone. And Doki, the ROG is the one I got. Every place I checked said it's one of the better monitors. Should be arriving today so I'll hopefully get it set up quickly and dive in. Depending on when UPS actually decides to show up, of course.

What I love most about my UW monitor is how much space I have for my UI. I absolutely detest how 4K screens make everything tiny, but with UW, it feels like I can keep my UI the same size and have extra room on the sides for it.

So, got my monitor set up and I love it. When I have time tomorrow I'm going to play with the settings a bit more and tweak it. But being able to lower the size of my UI and increase the amount of screen space to see the world is a beautiful thing.

I even have it set to max settings with HBAO+ Standard on and it runs smooth. I tried Quality but it created a noticeable framerate dip. Still ran well, but not as good as it could.

Should come back and give us some before/after screenshots for solid QoL upgrade comparison, please and thank-you and congratulations
