Ignorance is bliss i suppose, have fun sitting in that little bubble you've crafted around yourself.
How they came up with them. Math plain and simple. there are potency numbers in your tooltips in case you forgot and the convenient little fact that most raidwide damage improvement buffs are on 60 second and 120 second cooldown timers. Hmm I wonder why that could be such a mystery that one. Leave the insults at home or tell me how and why I'm wrong you you seem to think you're right.

Never ask a lady's age, and never ask me for my damage output/healing numbers. There's plenty of other reasons to cause drama during a run without dealing with a parser

I'd love to hear what these other places are because a huge chunk of the toxicity in WoW I encountered was related to parsers. It may even have been most of it.

The games change but players stay the same. If FFXIV gets an official parser I'll be shocked if the mentality towards it is different to WoW. Before parsers were commonplace in that game the community wasn't too different to how XIV is right now. I'd love to be proven wrong but it's unlikely.

After all, if they did feel emboldened to harass people, they'll be caught much quicker than they would otherwise.
    Prevention is better than cure.

It's very wishful thinking to imply that parsers would make it easier to clamp down on jerks. A lot of people don't report poor behaviour because they don't know how to or are so demoralised after the event they see little point. If parsers helped the behaviour of the community in a positive way...well all these threads about how parsers may or may not cause drama wouldn't exist.

And I disagree with calling it a coddle mentality. Since when is it coddling to want to reduce the chance of encountering harassment as a victim or observer? It's a bad thing now to want to minimise needless drama? What a depressing thought.

When you are doing such a bang-up job of proving that on your own? You got this. I believe in you.

So clearly you have nothing to say might wanna look up how to have a debate/argument. Do so before you reply to this otherwise please don't. But I don't have much faith in you this is the internet after all and someone told you you're wrong with reasons you can't have that.

I find WoW to be considerably less toxic than FF14 at this point, which is saying a lot.

How does giving people less information reduce their chances of encountering harrassment?

I said it several times a few pages ago but I think the community needs to remember what harrassment is.

If you tell me I'm an awful RDM and that I should (in the interest of keeping it current) 'uncheck the play-like-s***-box in character configuration' well then you're harassing me and I can report you.

If you say to me 'Hey your dps is notably low for this level ' that isn't harrassment. The only reason it's reportable right now is because of SE's ridiculous rules against third party tools.

If you think both of those are harrassment then there is no reason for anyone to talk to you about this, you're starting from a place of misunderstanding and logic won't work.

Debate and argument are two different things. Debate rules exist primarily to separate the two.

Might want to look how that works while you also math your way to a flawless rotation.

You're very, very wrong. If those little optimizations for buff alignment didn't add up to ridiculously quick killtimes, the meta wouldn't be a thing. What is Suzaku's enrage, 10:30? 11:00? My fastest killtime is 8:20. And this is at min iLv+10.

Maybe you don't consider 2 minutes to be a significant number as far as quicker kill. I suppose we'll agree to disagree there. But we're 2 minutes ahead on enrage, meaning recovering from Simon Says deaths is a much easier feat than if the group put no care to numerical optimization.

Sure will those things lead to a slightly better personal 4 digit number at the end of the fight? Sure, but it doesn't do A or B so its pointless and no need to waste official resource on so you can do something that doesn't matter in the grand scheme.
Even 50 more dps over a 10 minute fight is an extra 30,000 damage.

I don't have experience with with o3s just yet but assuming what you say is true then that means there are 2 fights in all of stormblood that require a change to the opener which is the new trail and this fight every other fight in this expansion and pretty much all of them from the last you can just use the muscle memory gained from hitting that dummy
I'll leave Ultimates out because it's a given optimal rotation is not entirely feasible.

    Offhand...

Dummy opener in Lakshmi, Suzaku, Demon Chad, Guardian, and Clown Kefka range from "Don't try it because of adds/interrupts" to "Be careful there's no precast/possibility of enemy aiming a raidkiller at you."

Beyond that every fight has little intricacies that, yes, you adapt the base rotation to, but there is no quantitative feedback that the concessions you make to the rotation to match the fight are even the most optimal.

I'll agree to disagree with you on this topic.

I have no desire to have a debate with you because then I would be admitting that you actually had something of actual substance and merit to say and you've already put it perfectly on display that you don't. Sorry, engaging in a argument with someone so incredibly steeped in their own ignorance isn't exactly at the top of my to-do list today. Thanks for the offer though.

Valid points, however what that 2 minutes saves some raid wide aoes no major mechanics were skipped or cut short. it varies from fight to fight A11s for example optimizing can lead you to skipping the entire add phase and a bunch of other things in between. Most fights are not this its my own opinion that if you aren't skipping anything major then whats the real benefit of doing other than because you can? There isn't one.
