I have played too many competitive games and people trash talk each other because the stats show that someone is not dealing enough damage as they had expected. It's too easy to see someone not dealing enough damage through their uses of spells/skills/abilities. Using dps meter to measure your own damage is fine, but let other teammates, especially highly competitive and toxic people, know about it is just not fun at all.
People are going to trash talk each other regardless. It's just in the nature of some people. Banning helpful tools just because some people will be jerks doesn't accomplish anything.

Making those tools available does open the door to improvement. It's hard to convince someone they're doing poorly when they have no objective tool to gauge their performance. If they could see something provided by the game, they'd be more open to receiving advice.

If someone wants to act a jerk over what those tools display, they can be kicked/blacklisted/reported just as we already do when they act the jerk in the absence of those tools.
