*Spoilers* I only have one rant and gripe.

So I am pretty let down with the whole warrior of darkness gimmick. I was led to believe we would ,I dunno become the warrior of darkness, embrace it. Not a pseudo warrior of light that bring night skies. I wanted to see a storyline where we had to embrace zodiark and do some disturbing things in order to save the worlds. I'm just sad I was a psuedo warrior of darkness and all that hype was lost.

I would say NO to that. It would go against everything I believe in as WOL to have to do disturbing dark things. The second we are forced to do something like that its full story skip time.

I feel you missed an important part of the story. Dark and Light aren't good or evil. The balance is important. You were the warrior of darkness because you fought for the dark's benefit in this world where light has become overbearing and oppressive.

Again, people are completing the MSQ and forgetting a very key point mentioned back during the Heavensward expac and parts of the ShB story: light and darkness are two sides of the same coin neither good nor evil. Also, the moral relativism of the Ascians has made every single one of the Scions, including yourself, question whether or not fighting for Hydaelyn is the right thing to do with the revelation that both She and Zodiark are the oldest of Primals.

The Scions understood what Emet-Selch explained to them, but they didn't think the ends justified the means because that meant the destruction of everything they've ever known. This expac was more morally grey in terms of narrative than any of the expacs we've had thus far and I think the WoL fulfilled their duty as a bonafide Warrior of Darkness to a tee. Again, Darkness does not necessarily mean evil and Light does not necessarily mean good, case in point: Sin Eaters.

I can KIND OF understand your Point OP. I felt more like a Battery of light than a Warrior of Darkness.

But i guess "Final Fantasy XIV - Battery of Light" wouldnt have sold as well xD

I also am very disappointed that we weren't actually any sort of Warrior of Darkness. We were Warriors of Light through and through. We weren't even destroying the light, we were absorbing it. We were actually, in a way, making the whole situation worse. We were following down the same path that the previous Warriors of Light of the First had followed; doing everything they were supposed to only to end up destroying the world.

Then it gets handwaved and suddenly we're fine, because we're... even stronger Warriors of Light than we were before now!

To elaborate on what ScarboroushFairy said, I found myself repeatedly asking the same question throughout the MSQ, and wondering why literally none of the Scions asked it (especially Yshtola, Alphi, or Urianger). That question being, directed specifically toward Emet: "Isn't there another way that doesn't involve calamities? A better way?" That's my only gripe with the storytelling in most games. The most obvious questions never even get asked.

Which is interesting when you consider Emet-Selch pondered a similar question after Ran'jit came to collect Rynefilia the first time: "Perhaps...there is another way. One that does not involve bloodshed." It really added to his character, the fact that he considered other options to fulfill his duty and tried to extend an olive branch, very nearly succeeding in reasoning with us. I felt for Emet-Selch and didn't feel any relief after we killed him. I think the question of what other options do we have to prevent calamities are valid, but, really, what other ways are there other than what we're doing now? The 8th Umbral Calamity would've killed us had it not (and I'm assuming because we don't know yet) been prevented by saving the First. The Source would've been SOL had that happened. As it stands now, killing Ascians, your brethren, is the only way to prevent the Rejoining and the Source's destruction as a whole.
