Is there a setting that will reduce the strobe light of lightning flashes?

I've been searching the graphics settings and I don't see any accommodation for people with epilepsy. I frequently have to leave Quarrymill for instance, because it seems to be nearly always thunderstorms there.

Is it necessary to have so many thunderstorms? I mean, is it part of the story of something? With time being accelerated, it seems like it's very common. So in theory it should stop faster too, but it doesn't.

I managed to get two stacks of gems from Quarrymill area (in the tunnel so I could hide from it a bit), and the storm STILL had not stopped.

With magic effects, I can just zoom out and it helps lower the pain, but that trick doesn't help with lightning.

So is there a graphics setting I can use to either turn off weather effects or just prevent strobe effects?

    Thank you.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

For weather effects, unfortunately there is little we can do to alter that. If you are on PC, you can adjust some of the graphics settings (most notably Glare and Transparent Lighting Quality). You can also adjust the brightness and the Gamma Correction. This may not resolve the issue but it may help with the thunderstorms a little.

You can turn off the battle effects as well in Character Configuration > Control Settings > Character. Here you can turn the battle effects off so you don't need to be zoomed out constantly.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
