Guys.
Gals.
Others.
Household pets.
I get it, y'know?
What we really need right now?
Puppetmaster.
And maybe some kinda job where we operate a sweet-ass mech suit.
Thank me later.

I'd love to be able to set my minions to roam about my house like pets. Hard pass on puppetmaster though.
god no please no pet-class tank
Then gimme my damn pet melee DPS.
While I miss puppetmaster from 11 (leveled it from 1-75 and had a ton of fun with it), it's still entirely on SE whether or not they'll actually implement the class. Not to mention the amount of coding required to make the automaton work in 14 like it did in 11, and the possibility of it taking away from mnk's position in a party if they directly carry over what it could do into this game.
Pup was considered a good support dps if you got your automaton built right, and the cost for parts were ludicrously expensive and rare in some cases (bcnm only drops with a 5% chance? No thanks.) If they did bring over pup to 14, they'll absolutely have to do a ton of tweaking and balancing so as to not push smn and mnk out of their job identities.
On a side note, letting our minions roam company or private houses would be a nice plus.
Of course Pup simply wouldn't be the same as it was in FFXI, and I'd support the decision to make it thus. I'm quite happy with how Dark Knight and Red Mage transitioned, keeping these arcane sword classes as highly stylish and effective warriors, rather than relegating them to propping up a staff and being a health-converting mana-battery or damning them to to whiff and strike at the air while farming for any kind of gear that will let them actually do damage.
Honestly many of my favorite things about Puppetmaster came down to the puppet itself, and the silly emotes it would do with you.
The only reason I bring up something like Puppetmaster as a tank specifically is the rather giddy idea of a party of "entertainer" roles. Imagine a Bard on DPS, a Dancer perhaps as some kind of non-magic healer, and a Puppetmaster as a tank. I'll admit its novelty at a conceptual stage does not guarantee its viability as a class, but I enjoy speculation and daydreaming quite a bit, so it's here anyway!
I would support puppetmaster tank exclusively to break the mold of "Bladed Heavy Armor High Self Mitigation 3 button combo 2-3 combo rotation tanks"
Though I would like to also point out Tanks in general are way, way, way to homogeneous right now. DPS actually get to play differently, let tanks play differently even if it means reworking some raid mechanics.
I thought next job was a new crafterino![]()
Combos in general aren't that interesting. It has little to do with how tanks operate. SAM, MNK, and NIN will all feel similar to one another once you've reached a competent level on them.
Another pet based class would not be a good idea at the moment either. I'd rather they fix Summoner's (and a number of other classes) QoL and balance problems first than introduce another class that has a pet.
Puppet Master can wait till they figure out how to do a pet right.

Mechanics are Aesthetics. Graphics don't make interesting gameplay.
