Directx11 crashes since 4.4 launch

My game gives off a bunch of directx errors whenever I try to log into my alts. My main is not affected with this issue and I can play it fine. But my alts are impossible to log into unless I switch to dx9.

I am using the steam edition and I tried to disable it's overlay but it's still happening. I am not aware of any other overlay effects going on that might be causing this since I disabled as many of them as possible.

I am receiving the following message:



Any help would be appreciated. I was playing the game without compromises before the patch hit.

EDIT: Tried to delete the ffxiv folder in My Games. No change in regard to my issue.

Correct. My main functions perfectly with both libraries. My alts however only login with dx9.

I have played for a few hours on my main just now and there were no issues or glitches. Even the steam overlay worked fine in all areas.

Thank you for the update Zhuyan.

My first thought is that you may want to try reinstalling the game if you have not already. There are a few things you can try before that if you don't want to do a full reinstall, however:

Set compatibility mode to Windows 7 (right click on the ffxivboot.exe file and select ‘Properties.’ Then select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and choose Windows 7).

Make sure that any anti-virus software you have has the appropriate exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV.

You can also try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

Reinstalling the game fixed the issue for me! No more errors on any characters in dx11.

Is there anything specific you did besides reinstalling the game? I tried this and I'm still getting directx crashes. Well, instead of crashing every 5mins like before it just prolonged it to 10-20mins. Now instantly crashing after instances.

Nope I really just uninstalled and deleted the entire folder. Didn't had to remove the folder under My Games either. If the error you get is different than mine then the solution may also differ. I am guessing something in my install got corrupted and had to be replaced.

SE should really develop a repair tool.
