I got a problem about fps of ffxiv about 2 weeks ago..when i log in the game.i saw my fps very high: 120hz but just in few minutes it droped back to 60-> 30-> even 15. I almost couldnt play game
    - i'd searched so many ways to fix this but nothing changed. I recognized that many peoples got the same problem as me
    - my PC and my laptop had the same issue
    - my pc i7-8750 with Sli 1080ti dual vga. 32G ram
    - window 10 pro
    - i tried everything to improve but can not and this thing just happened 1 month ago after my window update.. i tried to turn off some features - game mode - gamedvr of window and no improvement for me
    - i readed in this forum and some one had the same problem like me
    - how could i fix my fps back to normal before? I play ffxiv more than 1 year and now almost couldnt play with 15-20-30 fps

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I apologize for the delay in my response. I'd like to get some more information regarding the frame rate drops you've been getting. Please provide:

When the issue started happening? Do you recall anything updating/changing on your PC?
Does this happen in any specific areas in the game (only in instances, only in cities or combat, etc.)?
Is this a constant issue, or does it come intermittently?
Can you list everything you have tried already to alleviate this issue?

Additionally, can you submit a Final Fantasy XIV system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Hey dude, not sure if our issue is the same, but I had a problem in which I would get massive drops but only during certain mechanics on fights, like tsunami and blaze in chaos and I would get this without fail every time

What completely fixed my spikes was changing my launcher options from directx11 to directx9. I didn't even know it was an option, I hope this solves your problem as it did mine.

    Tks u for replying me
    - i dont remember exactly when the issue happens but its not a long time from the patch 4.4 and my window update..it’ve happened for 1 month already.i didnt change anything in my PC..all i have to do is try to improve the fps but i can not
    - this issue happened all time and everywhere in the game..when i log in the game..my fps is normal, just about 100.i stand at a point and wait for few minutes, open the game settings and see my fps drop slowly from 100 to 70/80 but i still can play smoothly about 10 minutes after.when i get in the combat it drops right away to 30 fps and locked at 30.sometime it comes back to normal (90-110) but not so long
    - of course i tried many ways to have my fps back,i know so many peoples encounter this problem and i follow their ways to boost my fps but nothing changes until now
    - this is constant issue that i’ve suffered for 1 month.now im running out of way to fix it..just play with 28-30 fps?
    - hope i can fix it soon bcuz i love ffxiv

Thank you for the reply Elvishuy.

My first thought is that your GPU might be overheating. Do you have a way to check the temperatures?

As the above poster mentioned, you may want to try selecting DirectX 9 mode and see how the game reacts.

I'd also like you to double-check the Nvidia Control panel settings. In the Nvidia Control Panel, go to 'Manage 3D settings' and then to 'Program Settings.' Select Final Fantasy XIV here and scroll down to find the V-Sync setting. Turn it to 'Off'. This will force vertical sync off while in-game so if there is any setting that is artificially lowering the frame rate because of v-sync, this should turn it off.

Thank you for the update Elvishuy.

You mentioned that you will try to fix it on your own. However, if you still require our assistance, please respond with a System report. Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'
