Well I think this mostly spawns from the fact that you are releasing a game to a massive player base for an extended period of time over non-MMO titles. People have experience with them now, quite a bit if you have played anything for a long period of time. Players know what they like and forget that it's not what everyone likes. lol

Tera is OK, I might even say good.
I for one am just tired of the same old crap.
I logged into the beta, played a bit. Realized there wasn't much different from other MMO's then logged off.
I'm willing to admit that I stick around with this game because of FFXI, I feel it can be as good, perhaps better if worked on properly. FFXI is where I got most of my MMO experience and joy from. I played Aion, Rift, WoW, EQ and tried tons of F2P titles. They never captivated me like XI. But this is only my opinion.

While i do appreciate the "its comming in 2.0"..

It still is silly that so many features were missing at launch, and even now. Say all you want that "the current server can't do ______".. but that isn't a good excuse for anything. It can be done, it won't because its going to be redone with 2.0.. but it should of been there in the first place. It was their lack of foresight, not a hardware/software issue. Saying that the servers can't handle having a mail box... well.. is just ignorant. But i digress.

The only way to stop these threads is when 2.0 comes out and is better than promised (if that's possible). Though realistically the damage has been done. The community might grow a little, but the chance for this to be a mmo with a decent population sailed a while ago. You'll see an influx of new players when 2.0 comes out. But most everyone who wanted to try this game has, and a lot of people are pissed off they spent money on a beta client. Mention this game to anyone who is a "gamer" and they laugh. Ask people who bought it at release their opinion and most have tossed the dvd. People generally don't buy a game, have it be horrible and come back to it nearly 2 years later. And even if they do, the current community is so far past starting that its going to be sort of pointless.

Hell, even the majority of the playing community has nothing to do. Everyone raced to "endgame" in a game that is being rebuilt where new content isn't really being prioritized. New people will come in, get babied all the way to 50 and then be in the same boat. I hope i'm wrong, but i think this game has already passed through its first life cycle. The rerelease and expansions may bring hope, but i don't see too many people waiting for 2.0 outside of this community. All of my friends that started at launch have no plans to play again, granted some of that is life changes that prohibit mmo playing, but still.

I've read these forums since day 1, even when i didn't play. Sorta a way to kill time at work and hoping that this would become a game that i would enjoy as much as i did when i played XI. Each patch brings a little hope, but it still feels lifeless and meaningless to play. If anything it made me realize all the little elements of ffxi that i took for granted that this game is missing. I only hope that all this optimism that 2.0 will fix everything is deserved. I hope it's like a brand new game that everyone will find a way to enjoy. Though i also realize that a game "everyone will enjoy" will likely be boring to me, much like the game is in its current state. Oh well, guess we'll have to see in a few months.
