There is a little Monkey in all of us....

I'm quite aware of what this thread is called. I'm also aware of what is being discussed at present. I responded to your implication that what we're getting is some incomplete content in 1.21 - whereas it's not. It is something different from the housing we will get in 2.0. Sort of like the rental chocobo is to the personal chocobo.

and just because you don't think it would have been does not mean it would not have been. the whole limitations that can't be handled until 2.0 sounds very familiar. oh that's because the was used in xi for years. does anyone remember "we cannot add extra inventory space due to ps2 limitations" that all of a sudden they were able to add it after a long time even with those limitations. The problem isn't the idea or the delivery system concept. It's the craptastic server structure and game coding. Just cause Tanaka planned on having delivery by March 2011, doesn't mean he would have delivered, or the system would have been anywhere near the functional standard any of us would expect. Ignorance is bliss.
this reminds me of that scenario. in other words "we don't feel like it's something we want to work on so we'll tell them we can't do it right now"

Those darn SE conspirators. Always feeding us BS about how they can't do stuff when they actually can. All they wanna do is take the cost-effective route, like rebuilding the game separately while also maintaining the current version all while charging a discounted sub fee.and just because you don't think it would have been does not mean it would not have been. the whole limitations that can't be handled until 2.0 sounds very familiar. oh that's because the was used in xi for years. does anyone remember "we cannot add extra inventory space due to ps2 limitations" that all of a sudden they were able to add it after a long time even with those limitations.

Silly SE, they should just put in the delivery system. Takes like 5 minutes and half a dev anyway.

i'm not saying that is what they are doing at all. all i said is this seems to be along the same lines of what was done in xi.Those darn SE conspirators. anytime someone mentions something it's "wait until 2.0 because 1.x cannot handle it". in xi it was "we cannot add this because ps2 cannot handle it".
no matter what is discussed at this point in time we can all start using that wait until 2.0 picture before the dev responds because that will be their response anyways.
i'm not saying anything can or cannot be done with the structure in place now. what i am saying is it seems to be the same common response given then. if something is not a priority to them i have more respect just being told the truth. part of the issue people have is one group not only said something was possible, but even had it scheduled in when it would be released and the other said it's not possible at all.

The Red Dot is actually Blue...

Ah ok, I see your point.Go play any other MMO and you will understand.
First you can only send 8 items at a time, you can't send more items until the person on the other side takes those items out.
Example being that if I wanted to send 16 items to my mule I would have to send 8 items log off, log into mule take out items, log off, log into main and send another 8 items, log out and take those 8 items out.
Take WoW for example (or pretty much any other mmo), I can send 100's of mails with a message and up to 20 stacked items all in one message.
I haven't really played much other games so I wouldn't know, thanks for enlighting me![]()

Ha, thats funny, I see that you may want to be able to mail your items to other people I get it. But really... is it that important. I want you to know that I wouldnt trade the changes they made to this point for a mail box. My fav class the pugilist pwns now when before i didnt do much. They made combos fun... even gave me a chocobo. All this would would never trade for a mail box. this game has evolved so much, it has transcended its former self and from its vantage point to 2.0 and beyond will greatly fill what players are longing for. Can you just wait, Trust us when we say it is coming

It's fairly clear to me that most people complaining about the 'it's coming in 2.0' response don't have a clue about how software development works or otherwise know anything about various server infrastructures. Because the idea seems simple in their mind, they seem to think it's cake to implement. In fact, most of the time it's quite the opposite, things that seem like simple additions can require HUGE amounts of testing and development time. Not only do you have to test the new feature, but you also have to test everything it touches to make sure the new feature didn't break an existing feature. Often times, that's exactly what happens. In turn, requiring more dev time, and more testing.
If the devs would have added mail system in place since the beginning, it probably would have been a simple thing to add. If you take a look at the features that were in this game in beta and just after launch, it's pretty clear that a mail system was deliberately left out to combat RMT. Thus, the servers and the code that runs on them were never intended to work with a mail system. Now, several years since the mail system should have been put in place, you've got this massive amount of code that that's been built around the servers working in a certain way that requires a complete re-write to account for a mail system, because as I mentioned above, they'd probably break a massive amount of other features by implementing one. So at this point, it's not even worth the effort spent to try to get mail to work on the current code base.
So here we are with the 1.XX server structure and codebase. The devs are working on rewriting the game from the ground up, while simultaneously giving us the features they have the ability to give us in reasonable amounts of time. We may not like it, but that's the current situation.
...sorry for the ninja edit.
