I have never actually played PS4, but from playing Xbox, yes...typing without a keyboard is a pain.

I would use a keyboard that attaches to your controller. However, I don’t know how good these work.

You can be every class on one character. All fighting, gathering, crafting classes.

In addition to a comment I saw about throwing away old gear: I would avoid doing this if you ever want to get into crafting because you can desythedis these for meterials. You can also sell them to your Grand Company quartermaster I think. Also, I use old gear all the time when leveling up new classes.

For a Bard, you need to complete all of your class quests up to level 30. I think these are normally found at the Archer’s guild in Gridania. Then you will get a quest to become a Bard.

I had a friend who tried one of those for a while. She found it too hard to be precise on the tiny keys, and eventually switched to a regular full size keyboard where the keys are a better match to the size of her fingertips.

Then again, like me she's an older Gen-Xer who first learned to type on a typewriter (back when those were still a thing) and that skill translated far better to standard PC keyboards than it does to miniature ones like this. Maybe Millennials who are more comfortable with thumb typing on their phones might find thumb typing on a mini keyboard fit between the left and right grips of their controller to be a better fit than my friend or I would.

And if you can type comfortably enough, there would certainly be a convenience factor in having only one input device to deal with rather than alternating between two.
