Yeah There are re-used mechanics. There are some new ones to though. But sometimes its how others are used in different ways and sometimes with combinations of others that can make it feel more entertaining and fresh. But of course if you break down a lot of mechanics on paper it will seem simple and easy. But executing it won't always lead to success even if it does help.

They did say that this patch was a "Chapter 0". The plots of ARR started in 1.0. Ishgard and Ala Mhigo also took their origin in 1.0, and Doma in 2.1. So, for something worthy of this nickname, I'd say it should be something that was not really explored before.
What if 5.0 makes us explore another shard ? A world that lived completely different events than ours. And what if you could create a character from this shard, making the current MSQ totally optionnal ?

FF7 is SE's biggest cashcow. There's no way they're just going to restrict it to 4 fights. If we get FF7 content they're going to go the whole shebang and make it an alliance raid series.

There isn't enough material to actualy do something that big with FF VII, the story fit on a pocket tissue. No "legendary place" to explore. Not enough great bosses. At best we'll get a cross-over fate to celebrate the launch of the remake and get ugly looking weapon.

Absolutely nothing about the last boss struck me as being anything similar to Sephiroth. Ark Angels (from FF11) and the T-1000 both came to mind first.

Even Omega Deltascape and Sigmascape had very little effect on me even though final Fantasy VI is my favourite game. It is because the enemies themselves are not as interesting as the story and context which gives them life. Here, they were just placed as an obstacle. Very uninteresting.

Alphascape, however, is totally a story about Omega. We've come to learn the history or Omega over the last two tiers of missions and now, see that story reach its conclusion. I loved visiting Midgardsormr's home and seeing a world overflowing with aether, explaining his immense power, I loved the fast pace and meaning behind Omega and the final Omega battles.

The battles are fun, interesting, fast paced and I did not grow bored at all. Visually they are also extremely pleasing!

But what tied it together was the story of it all. Seeing Alpha's struggles, his growth and maturity as a being with a soul brought a tear to my eyes. I also loved seeing the growth of Omega, and our final conversation with it when unlocking the Savage missions. This tier is just so well done and I think it's strength is that it does not rely on plucking enemies from other games.

The music is another excellent pillar of these battles. The remixed songs are soo unbelievably well done that I feel Soken has ascended even further in skill. They fit perfectly to the battles.

Finally the ending to it all pleases me greatly. Alpha's final wish to embark on adventure with omega is so touching and heartwarming. Watching his with his newly acquired soul running through the world, adventuring and living life to such a beautiful soundtrack was beyond moving.

It all felt like a studio Ghibli movie and perfectly executed.

I am extremely impressed with Alphascape, it is simply beyond amazing~
My thoughts exactly. The story is what made it such a huge win for me. Long after these raids become old and tedious the story will stick with me. I diddn't even realize that Alphascape would end this particular story line. It seems like I've been doing it forever. I guess I expected it to just you know go on and on and on......lol. It sure felt like it at times. Very happy with it's conclusion.

I'm inclined to disagree, the whole Ivalice raid cycle is just two games, FFXII and tactics, whereas the FFVII universe contains more entries than that. I would imagine that we would get Mako reactor, Nibelheim, and Northern Crater, with bosses and story events stretching from the whole franchise.

Not that I want this though, FFVII tech is far too similar to garlean tech, and bosses like guard scorpion have already been used. I'd rather they incorporate the bosses and locations subtly into XIV lore through the garleans.

I felt sad for Omega even before they used the female form. The whole thing with the datalogs made it clear it was lost and just wanted to go home. Unfortunately, as a weapon, the only method it knew how to solve its problems was through battle.

Ivalice lore is really huge, more than you seems to imagine and have a whole mythology attached to it, so much FF VII can't even compare. There is so much option for the staff to choose as the last ivalician 24 man raid its ridiculous.

Another garlean themed base crawling would be so lame for a 24 man raid or even a 8 man raid, its already over-used and boring as standard dungeon.

Honestly considering the next expansion is most likely going to be set in Garlemald, I think it's safe to assume the next 8-man raid will be directly tied to it.
I can see them doing something like having them based on the weapons from 7, with you fighting Diamond at the end of the first tier, Ruby at the end of the second and then Emerald at the end of the third one, with original bosses inbetween like in Alexander.
