I would think complaining about it would be even more ridiculous. Especially when it's not hard to look at it objectively for what its -going- to be.
That's all I was trying to get at.
How can you say you're looking at it "objectively" for what it's "going" to be? I'd be more than happy to read anywhere they state that these instances or even the framework of the inn system will be used for the future housing system. Till then, I'll look at it objectively for what it is...something that gives me ability to get the GA bonus with more hassle than before (since I only used it for DoL anyway).
How can I say it?
Well I just did for one....
Secondly, If you're being short sighted and only willing to look at the now than it's hard to do anything but be upset and complain. There's still quite a bit of time before 2.0 and all of it's promised content comes out, it would be silly to pay to be annoyed the entire ride.
You want proof, and that's fine. It's something I can't offer you (Outside of the dev post I quoted). It's not hard to see that this is a stepping stone, thus looking at it objectively for what its going to be.
You clearly disagree. *shrug*
I just don't see anything that says that system in 2.0 is actually built on top of this. To me, this implementation just reeks of the half-finished products that plagued the game in the first place. Sure it might be a stepping stone, but honestly, it's a stepping stone with no purpose right now. And to suggest that it's necessary that it be in the game right now is silly. I'm not being short sighted at all. Just looking at it objectively for what it is. You clearly disagree. *shrug*
I didn't have to suggest the necessity of it.
SE did by making it part of the next patch.
Therefore complaining about it is moot.
A stepping stone that's not needed now... Why not now? Care to explain why you think it's not needed other than the fact that you have to enter the room to get exp bonus? Because that's not hard and doesn't really cut it for a reason to be upset about it.
I'm not upset about it at all. I just think it's utterly pointless. Laughably so, actually. And to that extent the hours spent developing it could have been put to better use elsewhere. There are plenty of things this game needs. A shell of a private area where you cannot do anything but log out for a bonus that we already had another means of getting in this game is simply not one of them. Like I said, they could have added rested exp as any logged-out time for the same effect.
Understood. You're right that it the same means could have been met with less work.I'm not upset about it at all. I just think it's utterly pointless. Laughably so, actually. And to that extent the hours spent developing it could have been put to better use elsewhere. There are plenty of things this game needs. It would seem to me that they chose to get the basic model out of the way by doing some extra work. Perhaps they thought that some people would like the addition on top of finishing a possible base model for housing.
Two birds with one stone? We probably wont get the answers until later in the year unfortunately. lol
Perhaps, but I can't imagine there will be much to like about the new addition for more than 2 minutes when people realize there is no game to play inside the inns. I guess I just don't understand their motivation for this particular form of the product. Oh well. Not much skin off my back, I guess I'll just log out there now instead of somewhere near the PGL guild.
That's exactly the issue, there's absolutely no benefits to having these rooms now. All this has done is replaced the Guardian's Aspect with an EXP bonus system that requires a bit more trouble than it did when you could have it slowly accumulate over time regardless of where you are. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy there's player housing (Like I said in my previous post, doesn't matter if you can't customize it yet. I'd be happy if we could at least bring in friends to hang out with.) but with all the restrictions they're bringing I can't help but feel it's completely pointless, useless, and more cumbersome than beneficial.
This system serves for us to get used to how the way rested XP will be handled in the future in 2.0, as to let us 'grow the habit' of using it so it's not a huge shock. Player housing itself is not so much the issue, the issue itself is getting used to future systems.
That being said, perhaps this inn system isn't that useful, however, nothing stops SE from including OTHER things in said INN rooms, which they probably plan on. Also, they most likely did not need to divert any work frm anywhere to include this system. Probably the crew tasked with the player housing system went "Oh, look, this part of the system can be included in 1.XX. It should be ready by the time patch 1.21 rolls by, so we can add it in!"
