Well there's always Ishgard. However that wouldn't solve the issue of having to travel back to your home for rested XP. That would just make it so EVERYONE has to lol. It's frustrating to think everyone hangs around Uldah, and other people have housing in Limsa / Gridania.....they would need to port back and forth from rested experience.
I think SE need to seriously create / open another city. Jeuno / Whitegate types so everyone doesnt feel left out by not selecting uldah as thier main city + grand company.

And this is what I'm hoping isn't the case. I can just talk to an NPC in whatever city I'm currently at and pop into a room. Inns aren't really meant to be permanent places of residence, just a spot to relax so why couldn't we have a room in each city-state? But when player housing (actual homes, not rooms at an inn) is officially introduced we can then look at restricting it to only one city of your choosing.
You're right. Inns are for short term stay. Hopefully the quest is to unlock the ability to have access to inns, and everyone can stay in uldah since it probably has better beds and toilet facilities like all its other GC weapons and armor. And this is what I'm hoping isn't the case. Why does it matter what city your Inn is in? It's not like traveling takes time or is hard. 5 minutes to get on an airship, or seconds with Anima. I hope they Make all the rooms different, make it another reason for players to branch out.
I also have the same questions as OP and one further. Or maybe it's a request. Where will these Inn's be in the city? SE PLEEEEEEEEEEEEESE, don't add another option to the market ward/GC zone. That would be extreamly lazy and unfortunate. this should be a stand alone building that we don't have to zone into where we can then zone into our private rooms.
Also I hope you are able to allow us to Craft and allow others into your room before 2.0 as that will be what most people want imo.
Thanks

From what I gather they'll most likely be at the Adventurer's Guild in each city-state.
Ul'dah: The Quicksand hosts an inn near the retainer bell called "The Hourglass".
Limsa Lominsa: The Drunken Wench has an inn labeled "The Mizzenmast".
Gridania: At the Carline Canopy you can find an inn they call "The Roost".
So it's my guess the quest will either start with that city-nation's proprietor (Ul'dah's Momodi, Limsa Lominsa's Baderon, or Gridania's Miounne) or the innkeeper found at each desk in the Adventurer's Guild. In fact the Adventurer's Guild linkpearl you obtain earlier on might even be used to start the quest. The proprietor who gave it to you will contact you about getting a room of your own and send you off on some task to fulfill and obtain your own room. But the question still remains if you'll be allowed to get a room in each city, if there will be quests for each city or just one single universal one to unlock a room at each inn.
EDIT: Kiri beat me to it.

My thought is this is how SE plans to improve more people, at least in SOME manner, being in the other 2 cities. *shurg* Probs wrong but the original thought of inns/player housing made me think about this. Otherwise, blow'em up and don't rebuild them in 2.0.![]()

SE doesnt care were people hang out til after 2.0. they plan on linking the wards then, so that a start.

From the sound of it, you'll only be able to access an Inn from the city you started in, as the requirements to get them are main scenario quests, and you can only do the one you started in.
As far as it being attached to the market ward, I am 100% positive it won't be. Each Adventurer's Guild already has an Inn attached to it, which currently has an NPC that does nothing. We'll more than likely have to talk to him to get to our room.
I was hoping some storage facility would have been implemented inside the rooms..... gonna have serious problems with equipment in 1.21....

That would give these inns a purpose which seems to be the exact opposite of what they want...
I'd expect once we have actual housing we'll be able to store stuff in them.
