Leap of Faith?!

You would hate Guild Wars 2. There are TONS of jumping puzzles, and you have to complete every last one to even have a shot at a legendary weapon. I think the new GATE is great and has decent variety since you can go back and collect more trophies after you finish, but I enjoy jumping puzzles and am a golden saucer/triple triad freak. Don't worry, because before too long, you won't see as much of it. They're pushing it now because it's new and so there is a higher chance it will be chosen from the pool. Have a nice day/night.

Well. I agree all of you. I'm a complainer myself (I don't like jumping on a not-so-jump-tuned game) but I can see all your "play one of the other 1000 activities the game offer to you" arguments.

Buuuuut.

The reason I really don't like this GATE is that it is a duty... So I can not queue for XXX while doing it.

I'd play for bronzes... But it'd break my Frontline queue -_-

So, peace. And for the haters (like myself): Just try it. Get bronzes. Soon you'll get silver/s with no effort/stress... Later who knows.
Remember you can exit the duty whenever and get points for the cactuars you've gotten.

I'm glad that they made a new gate. I'm glad that gates happen more often. I'm glad that people who like jump puzzles have a new option. But seriously, was it really necessary to remove vase off to make room for it? I mean come on, the saucer already has two jump puzzles, why remove one of the unique gates to make room for a third?


Also, I just noticed that clearing leap of faith (got the 'gate complete' message and everything) does not count towards the win three gates challenge.

I have always despised, loathed and well... every other word for it, any and all of the jumping Gates in FFXIV within the Gold Saucer. This new one, Leap of Faith is the worst of them yet. FFXIV does not have the jumping standards/measurements set correctly for these types of events. Does not matter if you use a controller or a computer keyboard/mouse. The fact is, a character almost always jumps further than the mario wannabe platforms that are set up on these Gates. Leap of Faith is an absolute nightmare. On my first run, I was going it alone and managed to eek out, in the 8 minute or so allotment of time, a not so whopping, 4000 casino gp. On run through number 2, an amazing 1000 tokens for the same amount of time, missing the inky dinky platforms and falling to the bottom of the jump run over and over and over. Note, this was with several other people doing it also, all of us slipping from the heights and flopping on the ground below repeatedly. So, instead of what had been a quick and entertaining run with Vase Off, we are now stuck with 'another' jump a thon?! Take it away and put Vase Off in the mix on a better rotation than it had. Give it the chance to come up every hour. I earned 4000 tokens with Vase Off in two to three minutes. Never was I trapped in a zone, leaping with badly measured platforms with several other people, all of us hating the event. I am not the only one ticked off by this disaster. Will anyone else speak up? Who knows, but I am. As for the other changes to the Gates, I honestly do like them. Thank you for giving people a chance to get more coin from Anyway the Wind Blows and increasing the frequency of the Gates, but for all that is Holy, make Leap of Faith a rare event and return us our Vases. I would rather dodge guards in odd hats than see Leap of Faith be spewed from the lips of one of the Gold Saucer Gate attendants. It's that or fix the jumping system in this game, as it is a far cry from Mario quality.

Ahhhh yes... the jumping gates games at the saucer. Definitely not my thing even though I did manage to get them done at the Golden Saucer.

That said, I cordially invite you to attempt the Chains of Promethia Mission 3-3 Mountain Climb in FFXI.

You will have a new respect for the word frustration.

I like that LoF isn't brainless and requires some thought and coordination to reap the highest rewards. I think the bigger gripe should be with taking away Vase off entirely.

SE does have to think about players that invite an additional challenge as well, and right now LoF is an ant farm. SE will evaluate its popularity; but knowing them, because this instance is their new baby in MGS, they would more likely increase the MGP rewards in an attempt to get more people to run it before they reduce its frequency. I believe Vase off will be back in a future patch, but right now SE wants players to run LoF.

And reaching the goal in Leap of Faith still doesn't count towards the 3 wins in close the gates challenge. Which wouldn't bother me so much if it wasn't the only gate rng ever wants to run anymore.

I am 99% sure this isnt true. The server reset for the week a few hours ago and ive been to the saucer once since then. Leap of Faith was up, so i did it. Looking in my challenge log right now, it says that im 1/3 on that challenge(and 1/5 on participation). And im 75% sure that the 3rd one i did last week was LoF and it finished that challenge incentive.

Maybe it's not an every time thing then. Because I'm not too good at jump puzzles so I've only won twice. And neither one of those times showed up in my log. (First time was on 9/26) I'm 0/3 on that challenge and I won it at 7:30 est this morning. It does show up just fine in my log for participation, 1/5 there. But I'm 100% sure there's a problem somewhere, even if it's working some of the time.

I've actually noticed this myself. I was at 4/5, I completed it, I was still at 4/5. Same thing happened to a friend of mine. Maybe it's not an every time thing, but it does happen.

Maybe it's dependent upon the score you get? I.e.- you need to collect a minimum number of cactuars for it to count toward the Challenge Log completion.
