    I miss playing DRK. Given our current class setup, I can only see a DRK in FFXIV branching from a greatsword-wielding gladiator. It just seems like an easier implementation than scythe, which would either be shoehorned into an "axe" of sorts, or a completely new, and arguably unnecessary battle class.

    Only FF11 had Dark Knights using scythes. Honestly, I would like a sword and shield dark knight. Cecil from FFIV, FFII for states side, used a sword and a shield as a dark knight and he is one of the iconic dark knight of FF. Goffard Gaffgarion from FFT, also a Dark Knight, charges into battle with sword and shield.

    Wasn't there speculation about Paladin becoming Dark Knight w/ the possibility of having to choose only one of them?

    Yes, I've heard about that too. I guessing they won't make you choose since this game is about being able to change classes on whim.
