    So let's be real.

Non-official channels for these things don't matter. If it was said in some place not here, it's likely rumor, hearsay, speculation, etc. SE support staff won't care if it happened over a skype call, discord chat log, or anything else. They cannot parse the data knowing it's 100% authentic.

If something legitimately happened, those affected should use the proper channels to get the issue resolved. If people were legitimately affected by a housing timer bug but would rather spend their time complaining about the system's unfairness, they should know that doesn't do a thing.

If something didn't actually happen and people are lying/stirring up drama, then posts like this don't help matters at all.

I've already debunked the person who claimed they were in their house and it suddenly had 6 days to be demolished. They just didn't understand how the system worked. Here's them admitting they made a mistake:

That discord post is full of misinformation and hearsay.

As a paying customer I think SE should stop all auto-demolition timers for the remaining period in the subscription and therefore the 45 days would only begin to tick after the player becomes "inactive"!...

This is an abuse from SE by changing the rules after the Producer said a long time ago there would be no timers in regards of housing, properties were ours permanently and now we are forced to enter the "house" periodically to keep it and on top of that there's now a bug that steals it without any hope of recovering it, I think that's too much against players!...

I'd actually get behind that. If people are still subbed they should be able to keep their house and have that 45 day grace period after. So simple.

People need to stop holding on to things that have been said years ago. Circumstances change(d) and they had to make those adjustments. People still throwing that statment back at Yoshi-P is what led them to make fewer and more vague statments about the plans for the game.

Personally I always found it quite sad to see houses of neighbours being pretty much dead and knowing that the person/FC in question wouldnt return. Or seeing those houses dead for months, so at least assuming the person in question wouldnt return. I'd rather see someone getting their hands on that house, even if they werent a limited ressource, whos actually gonna do something with it.

The property was never yours. You're renting server-space from SE, you dont own a pixel.

And if this hasnt been made clear enough yet: They investigated to find said bug and they didnt. No one came forth and actually through with a report that could actually be traced back to a faulty system and not to someone not understanding how the system works.
That linked discord-post is from the 14.08. The dev-post I found was made a day or two later, confirming that no such bug exists.
So please stop spreading lies and causing a panic over nothing.

(...and please dont use a strong word like "abuse" in a context that it doesnt belong... this isnt "abuse", this is them having to change the rules to adjust to a new situation that they should have forseen, but sadly didnt. Auto-demolition should have always been a thing in a system like this one - not only to make sure that people actually p(l)aying have access to limited ressources, but also to make sure that the older housing-wards dont turn into half-dead ghosttowns because they have houses owned by people long gone.)

As a paying customer, I think this is a horrible idea. The house of a person who logs in every day but doesn't bother to visit it for a year would sit just as empty and useless as the house of a player who unsubs and takes a year long break before coming back. SE could (though I highly doubt they actually would) make any number of requirements to force players to use their house to actually keep it. Instead, they went with a "softer touch" and just encourage players to use their house by making them visit it once every month and a half. That's a bare-minimum amount of effort on the players' part. They are leading us to water but leaving it up to us to drink, so to speak.

There is no bug. There is a vague, unsubstantiated rumor of a bug. Wild, unsupported claims like this (and the OP for that matter) only feed the panic, doing more harm than good.

Okay, I am being real. You don't know what the heck you are talking about and seem pretty gullible to defend something without any kind of actual proof. Good day sir.

Just saying, I have a friend who hasn't ever stopped their subscription to FFXIV. They haven't played the game since Gordias Savage. They also had a house. They should just be able to keep their house because they set a fee for $15 as set-and-forget and makes enough money to never care about $15?

    ... Seems legit.

Active and actually going into your house are 2 different things. I nearly lost my medium house because I thought just teleporting to it was enough. It's not

TURN THE FREAKING TIMERS OFF TILL YOU FIXED THE GD BUG that would have been the smart thing to do but no you didn't you just let it go and let people lose their hard work. In all my years of being a square enix (soft) fan of ff games and the like and a ff11 vet and ffxiv 1.0 player i have never been more repulsed at the company's dev team for ffxiv.
You had better fix that bug and if you have you better think of a recoup to us players you basically screwed with you bs. And a edit I know many who did camp at house etc and still lost it

Sincerely all the players whose house were lost due to your error and screw up.

THANK YOU. I couldn't have said this better myself.

Honestly, I wish they just get the f**k rid of houses in general if they aren't ever gonna make entire wards and houses to accommodate everyone.

Better idea: Make houses FREE COMPANY ONLY and use APARTMENTS for individual players. The housing in this game so is sh**y and should just be removed or use the idea I mentioned. The housing system is beyond flawed, only causes "housing wars" and forces players to cheat the system by making fake FCs and passing ownership over to someone and keep repeating til they buy EVERY HOUSE in the damn ward. Like seriously...wtf were you thinking SE?

Houses are nice, but the experience is so FINITE cause you can lose it if you even THINK of taking a break from the game. Lost your job and can't afford to pay for the game? Guess what? House LOST. Stayed up ALL night to buy a house only for some D-Bag to come and relocate on the house you spent 5 HOURS waiting to buy? House LOST. Time LOST.

As a FFXI Vet, I fully appreciated my Mog House and the many improvements SE's FFXI dev team put into the housing system over the years in the game. And you guys wanna know the REAL amazing thing about housing in FFXI that FFXIV FAILS in? Your Mog House was YOURS TO KEEP. Even if you've been off the game for 5 years and came back, your house is still there for you.

The only equivalent SE's XIV dev team did with Apartments in XIV is make them like Mog Houses (minus the moogle) in FFXI. Meaning, if you leave the game for a long time, your Apartment will STILL be there for you. So why the hell couldn't they do something similar for Houses in this game? Why did it take them 3 years (plus a extra 2 years with 1.0 in 2010-2012) to make apartments? Total Fail.

Shame that a old mmo like FFXI can do things better like housing and content than a more modern mmo like FFXIV, which is supposed to be the successor to XI, but it totally fails in that regard imho.

The housing system in this game needs to seriously git gud. SE has truly lost the plot (housing pun) with their meh attempts at housing in this game.
