How do you get in to this game? A pathetic plea for help.

My advice remains the same. Start doing extremes and Savage through learning parties, and break into a circle of similar players on your server.

Use this as an opportunity to improve your play and get experience and contacts.

You will eventually bump into a static. Joining one before that point is a monumental effort if you don't have a history to back it up.

Watch party finder for now and build that history out.

The best thing to do is look for a static of like-minded players. Not every static has strict DPS requirements and try-outs and the like - just look around, or maybe advertise that you're looking for a more laid back static looking to get through savage and EX fights while having fun.

If not, the best thing to do is keep joining PUGs. Take note of players you enjoy running with, players who stick it out and keep going even when others leave. Maybe look around for or create your own linkshell of PUGs that you've played with who have similar goals. I know there are some savage/ex PUG discord groups around, so it may be worth looking into those as well.

This game is a little boring when you have nothing else but Savage content and you can't join static because you work rotating shifts with lots of forced overtime. So I'm left with absolutely nothing to do but helping my FC with whatever they want to run, or I just start SB Hunt trains, or spawn S ranks, or level up another class. That's all I do in between patches. It's usually why I made sure to not level everything up at once so that I have something to do later.
