Hey folks! I hope everyone is enjoying Hidden Gorge! I know I've loved all the changes implemented, and it seems like SE really learned a lot from Astragalos.
That being said, with the eventual return of Astragalos we at the Revival Wings discord thought it would be a good idea to get our thoughts together here so that the devs over at SE can get a general idea of how folks feel about the changes.
For the most part everyone in the server loved the changes, soaring not falling means that mechs are still super important early game, but folks that prefer to play on foot now have their time to shine in the late game.
Infinite BJ's were a great way to allow more players to pilot them and gain experience. This greatly decreased the the pressure on BJ pilots as well since they were a scarce resource that could turn the tide of battle if piloted correctly, or cost you a win of used incorrectly.
Opening up the core after one tower falling adds more tactical option to players since the winning team cant defend one lane all game with a BJ but have to split resources between both lanes which helps the stalling situation.
Again, overall everyone is happy with all the changes with one big exception; the games always go the full 20 minutes. Here are some reasons we've discussed in the server that can be used to address this issue:
- Games tend to stall out after a team gets a lead and turtles in their base. Long drawn out matches are not fun for the losing team.
- Cannons are too hard to defeat which causes the winning team to turtle and defend for the full 20m
- Decrease the map size. Making the map smaller will force players hands into playing together and playing to objectives which will end matches faster and keep players engaged.
Thankfully some of these changes were already implemented in Hidden Gorge, so please SE, implement them into Astragalos as well!
One suggestion that really stood out to us was to add a gunner to oppressors. The gunner wouldn't be able to do damage, but they can CC the enemy team with a stun or heavy. This wouldn't eliminate the need for the team to guard their oppressors, but it would allow them to not feel completely vulnerable during skirmishes.
If anyone has additional suggestions I encourage you to post them below! But please, I ask that feedback be given in a constructive manner so that discussion can come of this, discussion that can further improve Rival Wings.
