Players exploiting level sync in Pagos

    Date & Time: 16Sep2018

    Greetings.

This ticket is regarding the following reddit thread

    https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...pagos_weapons/

    Specifically

    https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...apons/e6282xg/

". . . And when I couldn't get a dragon party I would go to the lvl 20 bunny fate and pull 3 yarzons, get them down to about 15% life and use Contre to kill all 3 at once and then immediatley click my levelsync macro, so I could get a chain and have a chance at bright to newborn star light (depending on chain.) But theres also times where I would go like 150 mobs without getting light and there were also times where I would get like 4 bars in 40mins cuz of lucky rng."

The user clearly admits to manipulating the game mechanics in order to gain light which is a clear exploit.

There are a few ways to go about this:

    1) Find all the players who have completed all of the pagos achievements and narrow it down to players that have completed them all within the last 24 hours or 1 week time frame. There can't be that many. That would find this player in question.

    2) Fix the game mechanics that allow this to happen. Make the nearby enemies FATE enemies that can't be attacked unless you're level synced.
    Apparently according to:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...apons/e63dlrl/

It is a common tactic spread throughout the Eureka Discord to do this type of gameplay.

IMHO this is the same level of exploit as the Ungarmax exploit as it allows players to bypass the normal means of gaining light for their relic and have an advantage in the game they shouldn't have.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Is this really an exploit though? I mean in reverse there are times when players are doing an NM but some end up pulling a few enemies not part of it, so they may unsync to get rid of them and then focus back to the NM again. You could do the supposed exploit with any FATEs actually, so if you wanted to kill specific enemies and be rewarded, you could lead them to a FATE and sync down to not suffer any penalty. Granted the FATE situation isn't the same as light grinding, but the method has always been in the game it's just been adapted to Eureka.

Killing an enemy at a higher level and mashing the level sync button before the game can register your previous level so you can gain light as a lower level is clearly an exploit.
