Hey, yeah I think we need all these emotes.
Also I did a post concerning the emote /meh.
So please check it out here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/37446-meh
Looks like it may be more than just me that thinks it need to be re-named.

No /kiss? lol how about /carry?
oh and /tease? It could be like making babyfaces at lalafell and cooing at them or pulling a miqo'te's tail.. lol Just playful though, not mean.

Most of these are fine, just none of that fabulous crap please god.
Don't ruin the game for those of us who aren't gay >.>

It's already been said to you and I don't want to belabor the point, but since you don't seem to really understand it I'd like to say it as plainly as possible:
Being effeminate or flashy has nothing to do with being gay, except for a tired old, untrue stereotype. Some gay people are fem or flashy, and many are not. Some straight people are fem or flashy too, many aren't, etc etc etc. Either way it isn't a big deal.
It's fine that the "fabulous" stuff isn't your cup of tea, but in that case just don't use /fabulous or go to the "fabulous" joke threads! Other people having fun with the "fabulous" joke and the campy, flashy things things in-game won't ruin your experience, I promise. Unless you let it.
Basically, this:
(that video is awesome xD)
Anyway, back on topic, I think that things like /slap, /hug, /blowkiss where the emote involves another player, there should be "response" emotes the other player can respond with. See:
For /slap maybe there could be an option for the "receiving" player to /block it, which would have a 50% chance of being successful or failing!
Example:
1.Quina Quon targets Vivi Orunitia and enters "/hug"
emote pops up: Quina Quon attempts to give Vivi Orunitia a hug! (animation of Quina walking up to Vivi with open arms)
Then:
2a. Vivi Orunitia enters "/y"
emote pops up: Vivi Orunitia accepts Quina Quon's kind embrace. (animation of Quina and Vivi hugging)
Or:
2b. Vivi Orunitia enters "/n"
emote pops up: Vivi Orunitia coldly denies Quina Quon's hug! (animation of Vivi Orunitia folding arms and looking away coldly and Quina Quon lowering his/her head and arms sadly)
Or:
2c. Vivi Orunitia doesn't type anything after 15 seconds
emote pops up: Vivi Orunitia doesn't react to Quina Quon's open arms. (no animation for Vivi and Quina Quon lowers his/her arms and scratches his/her head in confusion.)
I dunno how hard this would be to program, but damn, would it be cool![]()
