One of top 3 excuses, everyone. It's sad a simple texture update would break the servers.

Its not just a texture update.
If its a matter of taking it away from everyone shure its just a texture change. but if its something to make optional its an extra face data to transmit increasing data load.
You cant compare to what modders do because thats 100% in the client. So nobody else sees your character like you do

Sent it in using the in-game Leave a Suggestion. Switching it to a Facial Feature like scars and Satsuki eyebrows would be nice.

Fudge nose ist best nose. Especially if you have darker skin and it doesn't stick out too much.

And I think it is more or less a tribute to XI Mithra who all had darker noses.

The smudge of the nose is what made me go with this face, personally. Mainly for as you said, it's reminiscent of mithra faces IMO.

It's a nod to the Mithra race, like the lalafell dark nose and shortness is a nod to FFXI Tarutaru race

I can't help but wonder, however, how other games with more hardcore character customization do it and seem to work fine. Even games that were released before FFXIV (like Aion).

Other games are designed better with beefier server hamsters that can handle the load and not start uncontrollably convulsing 'till their hearts explode.

At it's core ffxiv is flawed. They more than likely instead of a complete ground up rebuild, tore down parts, and put in some new pieces here and there and jury rigged the crap outta it. If you saw the code as a real life manifestation, it'd probably be being held together with an ungodly amount of duct tape. God forbid you bump it.

I use the soot facepaint to make it even darker. If there was a mithra nose facepaint I'd probably use that.
