Unable To Talk to the Ul'dah Citizen in order to become a Samurai

I am a level 50 Bard. I have purchased Shadowbringer. (I even double checked to make sure I was loading that from Steam).

The icon of the Ul'dah citizen I have to talk to in order to become a Samurai is red.

And when I click on him he says something like "Stormblood installed. You do not meet the requirements.

What other requirements are there that I need to fulfill? And how do I determine what those are?

I have googled, and read, several different websites on how to become a Samuari and they all state that the only two requirements are to have a level 50 disciple of war and to have purchased Stormbringer (which I believe I got when I purchased Shadowbringer.

What am I missing?

It should be available.
The only think I can think of is you haven't cleared the MSQ past level... 10? or something like that? Which would be unusual but not impossible.

I am on MSQ's in the early 40's range..... so well past 10.

Did you actually apply the expansion code to your account? Just owning it on steam does nothing...

That is a good question. It took me awhile to figure out how to apply the code. I don't even remember copying it. But somehow, at one point, when I go to log into the game now it brings up two options, the original one (can't remember the name of it now) and a second option to log in to Shadowbringers. I logged in under the Shadowbringers. But I'm not sure if there is any way to check while playing the game whether I indeed am playing with a version that has Shadowbringer.

Do you have the Main ARR story quest complete? I believe that is when the samurai quest giver became active for me.

I am not sure what you mean by "Main ARR story quest complete". I will google it and see if I can determine exactly what that means. There are no quests listed in small print underneath my MSQ quest. Thank you for your help

ahhh okkk ARR means quests for A Realm Reborn I believe. As I said above I am on a level 42 MSQ quest right now. I believe that is high enough that I should be able to talk to the UL'dah citizen. If I am unable to find any other reason why his icon is red - and from the posts so far to my original one it doesn't look like I am, then I will continue to concentrate on the MSQ quests at least until I have reached level 50 before giving up altogether on becoming a Samurai.

It's not even so much about your player level, but the quests you've completed. (in case that's what you mean by reaching level 50)

There will be two 8-player dungeons that cap off the A Realm Reborn storyline. (They are the only two 8-player dungeons in the game, so you'll know them when you get to them) Once you've completed both of those, samurai will be available to unlock.

If your menu has Shadowbringers theme and you can create Viera. Then it's correctly done
