Shifting Canals is 4.x content though and the hairstyle is marked as 2.x content
If it's not MGP reward then maybe it will just be added right into the character creation

Welp... to keep playing devil's advocate. While shifting canals might be 4.x content, any drops that can be sold on the MB would have to be "2.x" content, which would be a possible explanation for that. I actually went back and looked at some old patch notes too, and this seems to be the case.
In fact, more direct on these notes, where it says "New Chocobo barding added" and shows Suzaku barding, that is marked as "2.x" content. So while the Suzaku fight itself is 4.x content, the crafted barding can be sold and bought on the MB by all players so it has to be 2.x content.

My hopes just got crashed ;-;Welp... to keep playing devil's advocate. It’ll most likely be completing all of the following UWU, Omega Savage, all SB EX trials completed with each doggo obtained, 5 finished Pagos relics, 100 million Gil in coffer, lone hero & necromancer titles obtained. Shouldn’t be to difficult, can’t wait!
So.. SE tells us to play other games, when the content is low, yet they lock stuff like this behind waaay to much time consuming stuff?
This feels like some kind of Dejavu.. wait.. is this turning into WoW? O_O

If you ever feel like something reminds you of WoW in this game just keep in mind that Yoshida mentioned that he was heavily inspired by WoW when making FFXIV :')
Now if only they took actually good things from WoW

Honestly miss the days when we just got hairstyles and emotes.
Now it's like "you want that 'wiggle-big-toe-ever-so-slightly emote?' you're gonna work, boy."
Family Medicine doctor.
Constantly learning.

Can't agree with this and everyone stating the same opinion enough. I can't stand it when character creation options are locked behind content, way way less so when they're locked behind RNG lootboxes. It's not just that either, we used to get this stuff instantly when booting up the game after a major patch, we used to usually get 2 hairstyles per major patch, maybe 3 if we were lucky. Now we get a single one, this is terrible design, taking away something we used to get automatically and then locking it behind content to artificially add to the incentive to keep doing it. Like was already said, unique glamours and mounts that you can sell on the market board should be plenty incentive to do the content.
And of course this is all without taking into account the absolute garbage quality of content Eureka has been with Pagos. For reference with this stuff locked behind Eureka lock boxes, the shiver emote is selling for 14-18 mil on Ragnarok, I will never pay that much for a damn emote, you can pretty much get a medium house with that kind of money. A hairstyle would sell way more.

Me too. Just not customization options. If anything, make them all purchasable via MGP at the Gold Saucer. I feel if customization options are needed to incentivize new content, then it tells me that they have not been able to establish more effective means to do so; including the content itself. Not good.
If I designed a hairstyle or armor set in a contest and won so it is put into the game, and then SE turns around and actually makes it really difficult for players to obtain, I'd be freakin pissed!
