    Controller - crossbar help

    Hi all,

I have set my crossbar to display set8 when weapon is sheathed and revert to set1 when weapon is drawn.

Now I face the problem of being on set8 between mobs in dungeons / fates and I will admit I do sometimes simply forget to manually draw weapon and then head into a fight (you can imagine, instead of your opening skill you suddenly open your duty log or whatever, yay me!).

Is there a way of solving this by for instance delaying the time of set1 reverting to set8 or how do you manage this?

    Thank you in advance

Have you tried selecting a target and simply hitting X to initiate an auto-attack? Initiating autos should automatically draw your weapon for you, thereby swapping your hotbars. The issues with this, specifically only on BRD and MCH, is that you can accidentally pull from doing this by firing an arrow/bullet; but this shouldn’t be an issue on any other job you play, including melee, tanks, and casters.

I handled this by adding a combat skill or two (whichever is generally used as my opening attack — for some jobs both a melee and ranged opening attack) to my out-of-combat crossbar in the same place it's at on my in-combat bar. I can hit that skill regardless which of those bars is active, and doing so draws my weapon which puts me on the combat crossbar for follow-up attacks.

This pattern does, however, require setting the out-of combat (weapon sheathed) bar to not be shared between jobs, even if the other 14 or so actions on it are common to all of them. So you'd need to set it up for each class/job that you play.

L1+R1 will sheathe/draw your weapon. I also recommend disabling auto-sheathe in the options menu:
