(After T8) The final gift to Alphinaud and Alisae, still not used?

Hello! So, I went back to rewatch the Coil cutscenes, and saw something interesting.

As Louisoix fades, he alludes to the Allagan art of Summoning, saying that he's giving his essence to Alphinaud and Alisae. I'd forgotten about this until now, but we've never actually seen that amount to anything, have we? It's not like we'll suddenly see Alphinaud whip out a Phoenix-Egi, but surely there must be something they can do.

Inb4 all along Louisoix was merely referring to his waveform signature always being present with them in and of itself, not the Phoenix-Egi they could conjure. (Really, though, Phoenix-Egi, plz.)

If it does come up again it probably won't be in MSQ. The writers seem to have this fear that people might miss something and they try to keep the MSQ pretty self contained. Anything that happens in sidequest -even important and plot heavy ones likes Coil, Warring Triad, etc- doesn't really count (see also, Unukalhai.)

They had no issues having different dialogue during the part of the 3.x MSQ involving Alisaie, based on whether the player had completed Coil or not.

While this would obviously be a bit bigger than just a change in dialogue, they could easily have two versions of dialogue again. Something along the lines of a short explanation on past events, for players who have not completed Coil yet.

IIRC, we hear a phoenix screech (and the image of Louisoix appears) when Alisaie invokes her shield in Turn 13, but that's it.

This is the correct answer and how I always interpreted it.

Scholar still deserves Phoenix-Egi since Summoner went full anime on Bahamut.

And here I thought he was just being poetic, not literal. Louisoix was the one responsible for there being any Sharlayan presence in Eorzea at all and the one giving the Alliance advice on what to do next. Now that he really is dead, someone else has to do that. The two people who carry on the legacy are Alphiaund and Alisaie and he identifies them as such.

As it is, Alisaie is moving away from Archanism and it's link to Summoning. She's the Red Mage representative in the MSQ. If Alphinaud ends up doing the same thing with a new job, I wouldn't be surprised.

Ultimate Bahamut = phoenix is summoned after we "wipe" ala FF8/FF9 Phoenix Pinion. This might be what happens canonically.

Eh? The Ultimate fights, by their very definition, aren't canonical. The Minstrel just thinks it's a more compelling story if the party fails to survive Bahamut's Teraflare and has the mythical Phoenix people talk about seeing from Carteneau revive them.
