if you were in favor of the original plan, you obviously have no friends in this game.

Or we just planned on communicating with them to see where we'd be going. For wanting to keep the community together so much, you sure didn't want to talk to them about it.

But whatever, the old way and the new way both resulted in me playing with my FFXI LS, so I don't care either way. This is neither a loss nor a victory, it's a way to keep playing a game I like with people I like.

Why are you against them changing to option 2 when it does everything 4 does, but gives people like me the direction we want?

My linkshells won't be split, you and your friends can join any server you want, and people who decided to take a break till 2.0 won't be without old friends. I don't see the problem.

Original plan was fine, new one will be fine too. (further) Delay is not fine.

You don't need to worry. It's been stated that these various patch and merger delays won't change the 2.0 release date.

Due to people getting them to change the merge setup, it could potentially delay 1.21. While it won't affect 2.0, it will affect those playing and anticipating 1.21.

All because people didn't want to communicate outside of the game/forum...sigh.

It generally tends to with Square, since sometimes they'd wait till after the merge (when servers are completely down) to push out the update so after a fresh merge you'll be able to fully enjoy the update.

It happened a few times with FFXI when a merge was on the ass of a major update.

Well as I recall, the update was scheduled for late Febuary and the merger was to happen in early March.

I don't know if that means the update was originally delayed till early March, but I'm not too worried about it. I'd rather it be of little inconvenience as possible to the player base, including those taking a hiatus, and be late than be on time and riddled with unusual design choices that don't mesh well with traditional game design.
Much like how the game was released in the first place.

Besides, 2 is apparently easier to do than 4 according to Yoshi himself.

1.21 is supposed to land late Feb. In the old server merge plans, we were meant to designate the server we wanted early to mid March, with the actual merges happening right at the end of March. Really doubtful this will affect 1.21, but with this method of merging being supposedly easier I would really really really be happy if the merge date came sooner.

also @ Marx there is going to be a server transfer service when 2.0 gets here. That's why I was fine with the Merge plan we were getting already because, let's not kid ourselves, anyone who isn't playing/trying out the game after 1.21 hits and able to sign up for transfers wouldn't be playing until 2.0 anyway.

Exactly, this is why option 4 was perfectly fine because as you said, people who aren't playing now didn't want to (basically) or waiting for 2.0 PS3, which you could easily shift servers then.

People mainly complained for the sake of people who don't even play.

I will add, they don't have to be good friends either, they are just the people you and i have been playing with since launch. They are a kind of family and that these connections we make, no matter how small, do matter. Knowing as i did in FFXI, that many of the same people i met in 2004 on that game, i still crossed paths with once in a while in 2010. If you really hate em all that much, hopefully there's a world transfer service for you and better luck next time.

Apparently I have no friends because I didnt QQ over the original post? I admit I like 2 a hell of a lot more but that's very childish to assume anyone okay with devs choices is a loaner who doesn't like anybody.

Yeah, apparently you and I can't be friends because neither us were against the 4th option.
