Whats the point of /facetarget? Spellcasting change discussion.

Does anyone else think this is a pretty silly thing to add? I mean they added it because now spells are interrupted while moving, but couldnt they just have made it so you AUTOMATICALLY stop and face your target when you start casting? From the video preview it looks like you have to press /facetarget key before every spellcast, it just seems like adding an extra step that is unnecessary.

Just my opinion. What are your thoughts on /facetarget and the new casting changes?

It might just be a setting that is purely aesthetic.
    Like /display head on/off.

Seems silly, but some people enjoy facing a mob while casting on it and other people like the awesomeness of not facing the mob and blowing it away.

"The awesome dude that blows something up but doesn't look back at the explosion"

lol...Though this might be entirely wrong.

Doesn't have a purpose yet, but that doesn't mean it can't be used in the future for cone spells or similar.

Ah, good point. I hadn't thought about cone spells.
This would be a great feature to have in that case.

They said they wanted casting to be as similar to 2.0 as possible, so I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head.

"When the Face Target option is activated, the player character will immediately turn to face the main target. If the player character is in motion when Face Target is activated, the character will come to an immediate halt."

That's basically the whole reason for it. Your character stops moving as soon as you use it so you won't have to worry about any server lag and getting interrupted.

    Correct. "H" makes you stop.

Also if you are in active mode facing the target allows you to parry and I feel like you get interrupted less when hit from the front, so for soloing there will be some use.

Indeed, you do get interrupted a lot less when facing the mob.
