    Less Side Quests

On the next expansion can we get less fetch quests. Less side quest and more focus on combat or improving gameplay.

I’d say 99% of the side quest I either didn’t do or skipped the dialogue. Same with the meaningless non voiced filler build up main quest dialogue. By filler I mean the part where the WOL has a discussion with his group on what to to next and it’s just a forgettable moment. Trim the fat already, get to the point. To much pointless text.

Add the pointless conversation to an NPC or something, let me get to the fun part of the game.

Any side quest I did read severed no purpose and are long forgotten after competing them vs the voices memorable action cut scenes.

My point is I don’t like it when I complete a main quest and 10 useless fetch quest pop up. If anything add zone objectives instead of fetch quests. At least I’d make progress by just doing the regular every day things.

Lore can be given to NPC’s in the area without me having to go gather 10 pebbles or kill 10 monsters that reappear after killing them.

    Completely disagree.

Combat is not inherently more interesting than "fetch quests". If you did not read the dialogue for 99% of the side quests, how would you even know they are bad?
I for one like most side quests. Many of them are memorable, and nearly all of them adds to the lore of the game.
While voiced cutscenes are nice, they are not all that more memorable than the non-voiced ones - and certainly serves no more purpose.

and if they were just relegated to npcs in the area you would skip all of them i'm guessing.

Yes and no. The problem is the uninteresting dialogue. The hundreds of fetch quests. Take a look at older final fantasy games. FF6 where you can talk to NPCs during different times of the game and they would talk about the different events unfolding.

GW2 is a great example of voiced quest givers. Even though they reuse the actors voice, they’re all voiced and it’s interesting.

The zone quests in GW2 blow FF14 side quest out of the water. So much more interesting then having to go to an NPC. They should just add zone objectives or region objectives that the NPCs wish the WOL would take care of.

Ive read them and don’t remember them because they were so minor and pointless. They had no lasting effect. Quest like the ones with Hidibrand were great. Thats why SE should just drop the pointless minor quest and create zone objectives like in GW2. The zone objectives tell a story through out the map. Everywhere you go you see the story unfold in front of you without having to tak to an NPC. The NPCs in GW2 yell at you to help them with an unfolding event. The story is told as the event happens.

If you played the expansion for GW2, that first map area with the war zone. How amazing was that. That is something FF14 is missing.

Less lore, what a great idea.

I don’t think you read the conversations. You just read the title and put 2 and 2 together.

I’m talking about getting rid of useless quests and replacing them with more activities. Lore can be given to NPCs. Heck we might get even more lore. GW2 is a great example of constant lore being thrown at you while you explore.
