Suggestion for an alternative means of storage: armor box sets.

Hey, so I originally posted this in Item, Synthesis and Gathering but traffic is abysmal over there, so...

With Stormblood’s new means of distributing artifact armor and select raid gear, as well as the knowledge that each piece of gear we hold onto has a massive amount of data such as dye, spiritbond value and inventory positions that must be remembered at all times, a new means of storage came to mind: boxed sets.

My suggestion is that, using some systems we already have in place, you allow us to combine complete leftside sets (sans belt) of untradable blue and green sets at a special NPC into a single untradable item that can be exchanged for its components at a later date, perhaps at the same NPC.

In essence this turns five items into one which will undoubtedly save hoarders collectors such as myself no small amount of space and allows us to ‘retire’ glamours without necessarily deleting sets while simultaneously freeing servers of a proportionate amount of stress.

From what I can remember they did something like this in FFXI.

Alternatively, they could just improve the glamour dresser until it's actually good enough to be included in an MMORPG that's still running in 2018, beginning with making the Glamour Dresser capable of storing every appearance in the game simultaneously.

As Nixxe said. Probably others also have been suggesting this a lot, but they could use preexisting game functionality and create a Calamity Salvager style NPC/Armoire with a search function for every piece of gear we ever touched. It would be a compromise between keeping the current glamour system and a full fledged log. But SE probably thinks getting rid of artificial storage scarcity would hurt their bottom line: less replay value for old content, less people going the extra retainer route, exaggerated storage requirements in their byzantine development process, etc

I mean, I don’t disagree but given how long it’s taken us to get the Glamour Toilet to begin with along with some of the clunkiness still present with it there’s a reason why I suggested using item turn in and conversion systems we already have in place.

They’ve stated that just allowing gear to be stored in the Armoire is apparently a very difficult process so I (rather unfortunately) don’t expect them to give us a comprehensive database of glamour options any time soon.
