Got sour news for you bro. As long as you're paying, SE is going to assume you are happy. Playing the "this game sux!" card while being a paying subscriber just doesn't drive the point home. The only message you send SE is "I'm gonna cry about shit constantly while I give you money". Emphasis on the bolded part, since that's all they care about.

I suppose you could ask me "Well then, why are you still playing?". I'm building up my gil/levels for 2.0, and in the event they don't hold to their promises, I'll be leaving for Guildwars 2 or whatever decent MMO is out at the time. For as cheap as the game is right now (and lack of other MMOs I want to play), it provides sufficient entertainment til then.

Considering what happened with the Global Merger, I'm going to have to consider your opinion a little off base.

And to continue, 2.0 will have the world change along with many other features and will be expanding and worked on through the months past its initiation. I consider it a miracle patch enough because my biggest concern was with world design. Having it being directly adressed in a huge story driven cataclysmic update is all I could ask for.

SE only backpedaled because of the intensely huge amount of "SE's breaking our community I am going to quit playing" (bolded part read as "quit paying") posts. If you take time to notice, they didn't give a crap about non-paying players getting shuffled off to random worlds either, until paying people threatened to leave over it.

Ultimately my point is this: Why should SE bother to fix anything when there are so many people paying them for the product as it is? Sure, they have made a few changes here or there in the name of quality customer service, but no one can deny the huge sweeping significant changes are a result of quitting players. If you're such a monument to "letting SE know that the game sucks", you would have quit ages ago. You're not fooling anyone, including SE. If you're still here playing and paying, you must enjoy the game in some way.

Well, I assume a goal is to make people want to continue to play. Which is why they're fixing/adding stuff now instead of putting everything on hold until 2.0

Um, thing is the amount of paying customers right now is dismal at best, the reason why they would change things and put out a miracle patch is to get new customers and old ones comming back.

2.0 is not just a miracle patch its new servers, new UI, new graphics engine and much more, of course there is a chance that they will fall short but only time will tell.

Because we can still threaten to quit even if we are still playing.
You said it yourself. Square listened to the merger complaints because they apparently fear people will leave the game. How is that fear averted in situations like this? What makes it so that they don't have to worry about people quitting in these situations, but they do when the complaint was about the servers merging?
