Yojimbo- What even is he?

In accordance with the lore in ff14, besides being cool as heck, what is he?

Huyr? Roegadyn? A primal with the power to drain aether from gold instead of everything else? Besides stating his love for coin and being a powerful warrior, there isn't really much to him or his doggo is there?

Could be wrong. Maybe there's been some texts I've missed. Anyone know? I'd like to know more about him.

All that's really known about him is that he's a mercenary.

I presume we might get some more context behind him in the next Hildibrand quest.

He's also the boss of Kugane Castle, the one of course that you have to pick up the gil for. I'm surprised the WoL didn't pick up on that at all.

Probably similar to Gilgamesh/Ultros/Typhon/Palico. Some kind of demi-human/anthropomorphic being that's meant to just be a nod to past FF games. Doesn't have to fit exactly with the lore.

If you talk to him at some points during the Hildibrand quests, he denies having met you before, implying that the WoL is asking about it. Yojimbo might just not recognize some random Eorzean from one random job that he wasn't paid enough to actually finish.

I still wish when finding a geiko you could talk to the one from the weaver quests standing right by the house. Talk about a missed opportunity by SE, even if it was just her saying no. I'd think he'd recognize a pink haired Au Ra though as that would be rare, although perhaps not the pink hair in Kugane. Then again as a healer I was standing back in that fight too.
