    Yoshida-san - Partial Achievement Credit for DoH & DoL?

    To: Yoshida-san,

    Seeing how gracious and active you and the Community Reps have been in getting many of our pressing questions answered, here's one question that I hope you can answer for us regarding Achievements:

    • Would you please consider giving us Partial Credit for the Achievements for all the Disciples of the Hand and Land Classes (# of Synths, # of Gathers) prior to the patch implementation? For all of us who reached Level 50 before the patch, we ended up with Zero Credit for # of Attempts.

      This can be done fairly and easily with simple calculations. For example: You know exactly how much EXP we need to level from Level 1 to 50 for any class. You can easily see the Levels we were at when you implemented the last patch for Achievements. Pick a fair amount of "EXP Per Synth" and divide that total amount of Experience by that amount to get the # of Synths we've done up to that point.

    For example: A Disciple of the Hand from Level 49 -> 50 requires 100,000 EXP. If we were already Rank (Level) 50 at the time of the patch, you *know* we had to have gained 100,000 EXP to get there.

    Choose a fair "average EXP per Synth" amount (say, 250 EXP per Synth) and divide 100,000 / 250 = 400.

    So we performed about 400 Synths to get from Level 49 to 50.

    Do the same across each level and you can derive a somewhat fair "# of Synth Attempts" or "# of Gathering Attempts" to credit to each player towards the Achievements for Total # of Synths / Gathers.

    I realize Tanaka's team probably didn't have any tracking flags in place to keep track of our Gathering or Crafting Attempts, but with a simple method like the above, you can at least provide a *partial credit* (and some fairness) to all the Crafters and Gatherers that were probably well on their way (or already achieved) the various Top End Achievements for Disciples of the Hand and Land.

    It's probably too late at this point, but I figured it was worth a try.

    Heh. Certainly there is some factor in there, but as many have stated in older threads and here, there are many dedicated Disciples of the Land and Hand that did level up their class through crafting / gathering. They recorded and gave full credit for Disciples of War and Magic (for their # of Kills), and many people instantly got their Achievements and Rewards, but 0 (not even a paltry tiny amount) of credit for any DoL or DoH.

    It's probably useless at this point to ask, but I figured it'd be nice to give it a shot.

    i do wish we would have gotten some credit for having crafts leveled pre achievement patch. i was all r50's before then, but never completed one synth according to the achievement. if they had even given 1/4 of the synths per level it would not have felt so bad.

    at least i would have gotten some credit for the work i had done. i know i grinded my classes up so i would have likely already had those achievements, but at least a partial credit i would have been completely fine with.

    to me they also could have tweaked the 100k kill achievement. instead of 100k total have them split up among the different kins. like 10k beastmen, 10k voidkin, and things like that. could have been like beastmaster and voidkiller for the different kins and monster hunter once you killed all the different varieties of monsters.

    Agreed Darkstar & Hunnybunny.

    Even if they gave a ridiculously unfair "credit" - like you say, even 1/4 of a realistic # of synths to level from 1 to 50 - it'd still be better than absolute zero, which is what we were stuck with.

    The 100,000 Kill Achievement idea you have sounds cool also; something to make it more interesting and encourage some camping of various monsters.

    I don't know man maybe... they could give 2x the achievement points to players once they reach 50. It doesn't seem far to make someone who is 50 grind so F'ing much on grade 2-3 gathering points. If I'm not getting valuable items or exp from it please let me double the achievement points and take the sting out of the fact you added this content for new players after i already exped in that area.

    and before you troll me yes 1000 times at a grade 3 mining point is a long time when you have to do it for each city. I for one don't give a crap about copper ore!

    At roughly 150 times an hour that's 3 Saturdays of my life gone with nothing to show for it but achievement points and NPCable crap. "Ohh no!" on to 2000 times at a tier 4 mining spot x3, (6 more Saturdays : : and im still only half way there.)

    It really is a slap in the face for all the long hours put in my DOH and DOL players. If you don't want to give us any credit for that past work, then to be fair, you need to add the same thing for DOM and DOW, even if you did keep track of their efforts. Wipe out all credit for past kills, and make EACH job defeat so many enemies for each respective level group. In other words, for MRD, kill 50 mobs level 1-10, 300 mobs level 11-20, 750 mobs level 21-30, 1,500 mobs level 31-40, 3,000 mobs level 41-50. Repeat this for every single DOW and DOM job. Now, that would be fair.

    I'm pretty sure they didn't store this information before the achievement system was implemented. And for reasons DoctorMog made obvious, equating EXP progress to number of synths makes little sense.
