Hmm... A Flood (of light or darkness) on one of the splinter shards renders it unable to be joined to the main shard, our shard. What happens when a Flood happens on the Main Shard though? Are the other shards able to still join with it? Can they only join with it if a similar Flood has happened on them?

What if a Flood is what needs to happen to Hydalyen to kickstart the process of Zodiark breaking free of the moon?

I'm thinking the WOD are coming back and are going to play a big role in what is about to happen.

I'm on the same boat as you; I can't help but feel that the WOD are coming back because something BIG is coming and they are probably going to step in to keep whatever that's coming from happening ooor they gonna add fuel to the fire. Who knows...

In fairness, Odin in FFXI wasn't really the big bad. He was more of an ENABLER. :P

Can't let the world get too boring, right? Time to empower some mortals and watch the fun!

I believe he asked them to open up the gates to let the pass. I think the part where Y'stola is casting a spell is where we may open a bridge between the worlds to let them back though.

I really get the feeling that the danger of such a flood of light is nothing but a trap by the Ascians. We are on the losing side with a handful of calamities and suddenly freeing some countries creates too much light? I mean we only took down like three Ascians and otherwise have not done much with them. If helping cities is already flooding the land that much then this would really mean that Light = Good. Also this would surely mean that we would have to stand aside and watch horrible stuff happen for some kind of balance. Even though we still dont even know how that balance really function, how we know that one side has more and many more questions.

I also believe (and deeply hope) that all those death flags for Alphi are just red herrings. It feels more like Kan-E-Senna talked about Zenos and not a death comrade and Alisaie might just be sad because she heard about the destruction of the one ship that her brother was on, and her feeling powerless. I do have a bit of a death flag for poor Alpha..which I dont hope is the case.

Seemingly also the information about the primae in Doma has already reached the ears of the people in Garlemald. Strange how that is happening even though the party is not even back. (I know that its probably EliZenos that told them it but shouldnt they wait for the proof of the ones that got send there?) Thus the meeting with all the leaders could be about this situation and how they will deal with it and maybe its then when they get the message that Alphi is missing.

Anyway they have managed to weaken the populares and seemingly even killed some of them at that camp? All the talk about the might of Garlemald also sounds like they will fully go to war.

The question I'd ask is, what would need to happen for such a calamity?
The strange thing is, that we know that shards or worlds that are destroyed by either floods of darkness (which happened to the 13th one) or floods of lights (which we stopped) are useless for the Ascians too. And if our world who is the original one is destroyed by such a thing wouldnt that negatively effect all the shards too? (And completely destroy any balance that Elidibus wants) Also Hydaelyn was able to take all the light into her so why would a flood of light be even a problem? Honestly this just confuses me.

There's more then just three Ascians dead. Sure, we killed three red mask Ascians. If you're a Summoner, you've also killed another five black mask Ascians. Then there's Shadowhunter who's killed two red mask Ascians and four black mask Ascians. And those are the ones we know about...

Another thing to keep in mind... In the 4.3 trailer, there were a number of cutscenes that were different from the cut-scenes in-game. Stuff like Hien being with the Scions while they dug up Zenos' grave (in-game he's not), Asahi talking to Maxima on the transport ship (in-game he's dead by then), the HoH hologram showing up in a scene between Maxima and Alphinaud (that hologram isn't even part of the MSQ) and some other things. So some of these cut-scenes might not even have the all characters in them who are in them. Some might have more characters in them then we see.

I do think the scene with Kan-E is about how the Burn blocks all aether going into it rather then about how Alphinaud might be dead. It would go a long way to explaining why Shadowhunter is there; the Ascians would have trouble getting there and it's probably very hard for them to get back to the "In-between Place" from there.

Speaking of Shadowhunter in the Burn... there's a resource war going on in it. If Shadowhunter is who we think he is, I can so see him managing to have gotten control over most of the area... bringing order (unwelcome or not) to areas in conflict was something he was known for.

Also... there's an Allagan 4-man dungeon somewhere in the patch... Given that the Arboretum probably isn't going to end up going that route, I'm guessing the Burn is going to turn out to have Allagan shenanigans going on underneath it? I'd find it absolutely hilarious if the whole "repeated primal summonings caused the Burn" turned out to be "Allagans caused the Burn". The irony would be amazing.

Lastly... if the WoD are coming back... does that mean Minphilia is with them?

Well I am not sure if those black masked Ascians are even important enough for the balance of things and we still dont know if Shadowhunter truly killed the Ascians or if he believes them death because he does not know about their body hopping, thus he only killed those they possessed.

Read some ideas: Maybe its truly us that loses their body for a short time (all these strange scenes with us in the dark) and Kan-E-Senna says that about our body. And this out of body experience happens to have a chat with the WoD thus we learn of the (maybe) coming catastrophe.

I am really curious how these scenes will all play out in the end. Because after all we need a living WoL since people can still use the character after finishing the story, so it should not be something longliving.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

I'm not sure what to make of this one. There simply isn't enough dialogue to make an accurate prediction, and unlike 4.2 - 4.3 there isn't an obvious enough plot thread to pull at the truth (beyond the man wearing Zenos' face pretty likely being Elidibus). As such I will just wait and see what happens. The distortion effect at the big meeting table in Ala Mhigo is... troubling, though.

All the fights exciting, and Suzaku's music is nice from what I heard of it though.

Magnai and Sadu stepping back onto the stage though?! Aww yeah!

One of the echoy voice lines sounds like "history has been changed" or something to that effect. Which I'm REALLY hoping I'm hearing wrong. Messing with things past* very very rarely produces stories I don't find thoroughly jarring.

*History =/= the past, but that would seem to be the way it's used here.
