    New Skills / New Maps

    Hi,

    Has there been any news or talk about adding additional skills for all jobs? perhaps old pvp skills or even new traits / additionals to shake things up abit?

    I miss skills like mythril swing and carnal chill which from a gameplay perspective made certain tank jobs quite enjoyable for example.

    would also love to know if old maps are coming back and are there any new ones in the works?

    I would like it if they do add more traits, to also make pvp levels matter again so we can put points into our traits for some upgrades again like back in 3.x but only strictly for traits just to spice things up a bit

    5.0 is where any of that will be. if they add anything but potency buffs it don't make sense at this stage because it will just have to be rebalanced in like 9 months anyway.

    Ye I think so too but a random map rotation that includes all 3 maps would be awesome.

    100% agree with OP, it's now time to start adding back to the skill-set within PVP that was drastically reduced from season 4, which was fine as a start, but we are now multiple seasons ahead without any new additions and slow / non communicative responses from the PVP dev team. I do wonder if a team even exists in regards to the PVP development timeline of FFXIV, because it's not been communicated clearly enough at all.

    I also question if there is a producer assigned to PVP, because it's quite worrying how slow development of Feast is going aside from the 'throw money at it' fanfest option which is a temporary fix to a much bigger problem. It took about 3 seasons to finally get a 'timed attack' command added to the game for example.

    Ok, so what are 'some' solutions to this, mr lalafell who is criticising?

    Map rotations:
    You have custom games already playing in these maps, the fact that it isn't in a solo rotation is questionable and a waste of resources, honestly, you have two whole maps not being used right now with no good reason as to why. I know as a fact that to put those maps back into rotation or to 'modify' them to make the spawn closer to the middle is a quick job requiring only 1 individual.

    Transparency:
    There needs to be a bridge between community and dev team, as far as I can see there is no such thing on these forums for the west, we often see changes in the new season and wonder "ok... why?", not having an open feedback stream or in-game feedback methods once a season ends is terrible, and no, pre-season isn't this, I have yet to see significant data collected via pre-seasons that are put into action.

    Pre-season, make it actually relevant:
    Use your pre-season period as a PTR for new changes and skills, NOT as the season where you apparently 'take the feedback and act on it' which isn't true. Changes should happen every single pre-season based on community feedback or data collection statistics on the developer side, right now pre-season is a dead mode in which the only merit from it is starting a score higher for the next season. If this mode was an actual testing grounds for balancing changes that was given feedback on and then acted on by the developer, more people would play it.

    Quality of life and actual polish:
    After 3 seasons we are finally getting a timed-attack command, which hopefully works with macros. What we need now is more QoL and polish to contribute to the game mode and community.

    Examples:
    • Account or data center wide ranking rewards.
    • A single eligible character per data center for top 100 ranking, per account.
    • Quick chat commands that can work within macros.
    • Boxes and buffs that can be targeted via macros or commands.
    • A virtual lobby / spectator system for ongoing games while you wait in queue.
    My proposed fixes are some of 'many' changes that could happen on a shorter time scale to improve Feast as a whole, because, right now, the mode is dying and player retention is almost solely based on the 'carrot on the stick' reward at the end of the season (this season will have the lowest top 100 ranking for a first time unique reward in recent times).
