broken quest

In-game time: doesn't matter
Area and coordinates: near 25, 25 Aleport
Housing: no
Steps: doing quest finding sick kitty and giving it a bone I picked it up before I gave it bone, bone is still in my inventory. Kitten is now my minion, but quest is incomplete. Abandon quest and do it again it doesn't produce a new kitten to save so can't finish quest.

The area where the dog was supposed to be only had a kitten. So where's the dog?
