I am new as well, I have only been playing for about a week. I have a level 31 PUG, 14 LNC, 12 CNJ, 11 Leatherworking at the moment and there seems like there is just too much to do. There are tons of side quests, the grand company quests, the main mission story...it's actually a lot for new people to go after. Leveling is faster than it was ever in ffxi and the combat is more intuitive. It's just a nice, solid break away from the cookie-cutters out there.

The only thing that they could do better for newer players is provide a path for gearing. Besides running into a random quest that might give you gear that you need, they could perhaps mainstream leves and actually have you select a reward. This would help a lot as I just find myself buying stuff through the AH for my gear, but then again....that does make for a good economy so maybe i just need to craft more.

I got side tracked there for a min, but that's because I am loving the game. It has charm, life, and feels fresh to be honest. I have recommended it to my friends and they will start playing soon. I see a good future for this game.

    Welcome to FFXIV!

There really isn't much out there as far as 'rewards' for gear go. The Market Wards and crafting will get you the gear you need for lower level. Some of the lower level dungeons will drop you some nice pieces once in awhile.

    Shposhae:
Recommended Level 15+, located just East of Limsa Lominsa.
I'd say bring a party of 4 or more. A healer, someone who can take damage, and someone who can dish it out. You might want 8 people if you plan on going to the very depths. There are multiple floors that do not necessarily connect to each other, giving you lots to explore. Inside you will find 3 NMs, one of which is the Coeurl, a famous FF monster. He has a special trigger to make him pop that involves killing all the Wolves on the lowest floor.

Inside you will find Keys scattered throughout the floors, and chests that the keys unlock. Some keys drop only from the NMs, others drop from the monsters found inside Shposhae.

If is a great place to amass EXP in groups at that rank, even if you don't want to get drops. This is similar to how the Strongholds are excellent EXP sources for 40+

As Holy Dragoon said, yeah Shposhae is quite fun! I was lucky enough to explore it with rank 15s when it came out, and I can say they truely did a nice job with that particular dungeon. I would say for good exp though, you'd likley be level 10 or so (15 to beat NMs maybe). I just went with three people when I went, I was MRD (tank), with a LNC and CON. Was good fun

*---> And if you're talking about the 25 Dungeon, Toto-Rak. You'd ideally want levels around 20 for great EXP, but you'd want probably a party of 4 for any of the bosses and probably around 28-30 for those actually. Most of my runs here were on high levels cause that was just the cool thing to do >.> But I did go through there twice with appropriate levels and it was so much fun.

I'm always happy to see people enjoying the game too. I can say when I was enjoying the game the most was in the earlier days up until 1.19 (I did not like the huge PL surge). I was logging on everyday, had a very active linkshell, and just had fun everytime I was on. I always have and will enjoy leveling classes (battle), and I'm sad to say I'm done now. I didn't even PL that much, but I will admit to doing it somewhat to get necessary skills I needed before. If I was new and starting out now though, the "need" to have all jobs maxed is not there - so you're free to level how you please ^^ Really looking forward to the server merge to get more parties going for the game to make it more fun for everyone

It's nice to know too that they are working on prior content, to give them more meaning. There's no reason they should out-date stuff so quickly^^

Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~
