Yay finally a good poitive forum topic that are community needs
Glad to see this game has such a welcoming community. It's hard to find in MMOs nowadays. I remember in Everquest and Ultima Online, how close knit those communities were.

Omgitsbees,
Welcome! I hope you have a long and enjoyable adventure here. ^^
To the comments about lack of things to do...
I guess what makes something "worth doing" depends on what that person wants out of FFXIV.
If someone is focused on quickly becoming the strongest and getting all the best gear, there might not be a whole lot to do after only a short time.
If someone is interested in:
- trying all the different classes (and leveling them up gradually without Power Leveling);
- all the crafting classes;
- the 3 gathering classes;
- trying all the different class quests and various side quests;
- making their own gear or making gear for others;
- doing the monthly events;
- exploring the world and trying to reach new gates or unusual locations;
- and helping others even if there is no personal gain in terms of experience or equipment...
... then there is actually quite a bit to do.
I've been playing practically every day since launch, and my biggest problem is not having enough time to do all the things I want -- despite being in Eorzea at least 4 to 5 hours every day... sometimes 8 hours or more. I am very rarely bored here.
I'm still very far from getting a Paragon's Crown... so some people would say I'm doing it all wrong.
But I'm having a great time and look forward to visiting Eorzea every day... so I'm not sure what else I could ask for. ^^

The game is what you make it. Glad you are having a good time!

You've timed your come back pretty well, by the time you have hit 50, done the 2 primals and some crafting 1.21 won't be far to go.

I've been playing since launch, I still enjoy it.
Recently snagged my Paragon's crown (which I was pretty proud of after my XI career took a nose-dive once I couldn't play all the time)
This game caters well to those who have days where you can game, and days where you can't.
I've got lots yet to do, and I see more coming.
Welcome to FFXIV, a place where you find the adventure, not one that tells you how to do it.

I've also played since pre-launch and there is still lots to do. I'm having a great time in-game , by far the best MMO community I have yet encountered. I'm also very happy with the patches and updates, things have been getting better all the time.
Welcome to Eorzea!

Welcome back!I just started playing FFXIV last night, and so far i'm level 16, and I have to say; I am really enjoying this game! I did try it out during its open beta test phase, and the game was dreadfully bad. After reading a lot of comments though about how much XIV has improved, and seeing how cheap it is now on Amazon.com, I decided to give it a try.
I really like the old school feel of the game, while at the same time it has a few modern day MMO features that make it more accessible, and the leveling grind is not that bad. Although i've been told to expect it to get much harder later on.
I've played everything in the MMO genre, from Ultima Online, Everquest, Dark Age of Camelot, Asherons Call, to World of Warcraft, and what the game has become today, Star Wars:the Old Republic, Lord of the Rings Online, and Rift. So i've seen my fair share of both hardcore and casual friendly MMOs. I feel like FFXIV strikes a really good middle ground.
I hope your stay in eorzea is one filled with fun, adventure and just lightly flavored with frustration. I also hope that you are able to find your way into a group of great people to hang out with.
Xiv is a lot like a good bottle of wine, its best enjoyed when shared with people you enjoy being around.
An Aware, Informed, and Critical community is vital for the success of a game.~ John "Totalbiscuit" Bain
