Noob question about gear

Hey guys i'm new and I have a question about gear. My inventory is full of "pink" "green" amd "blue" gear that I can't sell on the market and can't convert into anything. Is it useful to hold on to it or my only option is to sell it at a ridiiculous cheap price to a vendor ?

If the gear is at max spiritbond and you cant convert, your best bet would be to either sell it to an NPC for pittance, trade to your Grand Company for seals, or hold on to it for the sweet, sweet glamour (most of the time).

That is if you definitely cant convert to material or sell on the board. Its been a long time since I've attempted to do such things with gear tbh

Ok, sorry to ask but if a piece is 100% spiritbound it can make it unsellable ?

You can turn them in at your Grand Company, it is under "expert delivery" You will get seals in return which you can spend for more useful items or mats.

Any amount of spiritbond on a piece of gear will make it unsellable even 1%. As far as the rest goes the majority of "special" gear you receive from dungeons (any colored gear) will also be unsellable on the market board. You can turn it in for seals as was mentioned earlier though.

Theres very little green or blue gear that is tradable(and no pink gear i can remember) to begin with, but if it receives any spiritbonding at all then you can no longer pass it on to another player. So what can you do with old gear? If your grand company rank is high enough you can turn in any "colored" gear(green, pink, blue) for seals(this is "Expert Delivery" as was previously mentioned). Spend those seals on stuff to sell, stuff you need, or ventures to keep your retainers busy. If the gear has 100% spiritbond you might be able to convert it into materia. The item "card"(when you examine it) will say convertable yes/no. If yes(and if you did the level 20 quest) then turn old stuff into materia that you use sell or transmute. If youve taken up crafting, you can learn how to deconstruct some items for some of their base materials. The card will again say desynthesis yes/no along with a class and a skill level. If you have the right classes desyn at a high enough level, take it apart and maybe get something good out of it(note - desynthesis takes a lot of time and typically a lot of money to level and you only have enough available skill points to either max out 3 classes or do less then max for more). Another good use for old gear is your retainers. Got an upgrade? Give the old piece to your retainer(if its the same class). Better gear means that your retainers can bring you back better stuff(combat retainers want a high item level, gatherer retainers want a high gathering skill). Think the item looks cool and you might want to glamour it in the future? Store it. This might mean you/your retainers holds it or you might try to find room in a glamour dresser or armoire. None of the above applies and its a gear youll never need again(is there another class you might level later who would benefit from this)? Then yeah. Sell it for a small handful of gil and open up the inventory space.
