For those looking for Aether/Magic lore… (spoilers)

So on a random whim to read something to activate my brain before work, I decided to troll Google to find FFXIV lore, and I found something really interesting!

It’s a post that is basically this vast accumulation of quotes from the game, from interviews, as well as excerpts from the Encyclopedia Eorzeas. It covers virtually every topic pertaining to the use of Aether in the game; the origins of how it came to be used, battle classes/jobs, its consideration in gear design, general world lore… It’s actually rather extensive and well organized.

Obviously there’s spoilers in there, as there’s quotes from characters up to and from ShB (and a little bit of EW). But I think that anyone who wants some extra details on how the magic system works, skipped the flavor text, and/or doesn’t have copies of the encyclopedias should definitely take a look.
