Some Random Questions For Lore-centrics (:

    Hello there!

I’ve got a few questions that I thought I’d lump together since maybe they don’t deserve their own thread. Please answer at your convenience, and thanks for your thoughts (:

    -Seventh Rejoining
So, this is a rejoining that happened in recent history. Our WOL even made it through. The question is: Are there any recorded effects on people experiencing a shard rejoining? (For example, our WOL getting a chunk of Azem slammed into them). Do we suppose this is why the global “fuzzy memory” happened after the moon crash?

-The World Of Darkness (That Red Sphere)
So, what is that red energy ball up in the sky? A dead sun? The voided-out 13th? When we’re running that raid, I assumed the clouds below us were obfuscating the 13th, and we were floating above. If it is the sun - does this mean each shard also has its own sun (and moon)?

-Void Ark and Tower Of Zot
Is there a reason the design for these two things seem so similar, aside from Giger=Creepy? The void stuff in general seems to follow this visual motif. Is there a deeper lore connection?

    Thanks again!

Seventh Rejoining: There's definitely theory that the 'fuzzy memory' was the fault of the Calamity itself, but nothing clear to confirm if it was that or just another thing that happened at the same time.

The World of Darkness: That orb is actually the Cloud of Darkness itself, if we're thinking of the same orb!

Ark and Zot: There's no known connection. It might in fact be entirely coincidence, if you directly compare the Tower of Zot/Babil to the Void Arc/Pyramid of Mhach there actually isn't much in the way of commonalities aside from both being dark and bio-organic. But, both could've been invented by Ascians (we don't know what they were up to exactly in that era), so who can say?

Too many unknowns really for the 7th rejoining and the fuzzy memory. One theory is what Cleretic said another one is the fuzzy memory was due to the magicks Louisoix invoked with summoning the "twelve" as he did or when he ended up becoming Phoenix or when sending the original WoL(my character and others who are legacy from 1.0) to the future. It is worth a note that while the fuzzy memory affected most people, there was atleast one we know that wasn't touched by it (Minfillia).

In regards to the Seventh Rejoining, it needs to be noted that to the average person, they have actually no idea about the nature of the Source and the Shards, to them, a Rejoining is just a Calamity, a world-devastating event of death and destruction caused by outside forces. So any recorded information about past Rejoinings terms them as 'Calamaties' not Rejoinings (Rejoinings is the term the Ascians use).

As far as known, the effects of what happens to having a soul fragment rejoined to a person on the Source during a Calamity would probably be just dismissed as 'aether sickness' either way, besides, given the destruction and cultural upheavels that accompany each Calamity, I think those that live through one have more pressing matters on their minds than noticing their souls are now slightly more denser.

Thanks all. I figured there wasn’t much on the 7th calamity - but thought maybe there might be a thread buried there.

Cleretic - the big red ball we see at the start of the raid is the darkness itself? (The big lady we fight at the end?) I’ll have to take a closer look if so. Thanks (:

As far as Zot/Ark comparisons - maybe there’s more to it, or maybe they just have a style they like. It struck me as very similar when we first saw it - but maybe I’ve just been getting Void Ark too many times in Roulette (:

    Thanks again!

As far as the memory thing goes... I think it pertains specifically to forgetting who the WoLs were. We have Echo vision of the leaders' memories, from their souls, towards the end of Carteneau, and it even somehow includes Lahabrea monologuing. No idea why it occurred, but whatever did cause it was very specific in its memory loss. Rather similar to a certain clock mechanism used recently in Endwalker.

As far as red ball goes... I think that's right. I haven't paid attention in World of Darkness in a long time.

Zot/Babil vs. Ark - There's currently a visual connection and somewhat of a boss connection from Savage in Pandaemonium for Ancients -> Mhach.
    Spoilers for Boss connection.
Hesperos in Savage turns into a monster resembling Diabolos.

There's a Cessair/Cait Sith reference in Elpis, too. They may be similar due to having their architecture passed down as the scary prison for monsters architecture via Ancient Memory inheritance. That's theory, but I swear to you every time I fight Erichtonios it feels like I'm in Dun Scaith. It could be that Fandaniel either intentionally or unintentionally had the towers manifest that way. I'm rather curious as to what summoning ritual was employed to was able to scatter Varis's limbs into them.

The memory thing from the Seventh Calamity was explained by member of Sharlayan's Forum in Endwalker.

The Calamity washed the souls of the people of Eorzea on a large scale with memory-type aether, which basically blotted out the memories of the events following it. But no one, not even Sharlayan scholars, know if it was deliberate or just a side-effect.

On the spoiler bit, I wonder if that might not be a little creative redesign by our Sharlayan friend, seeing as how it’s their writing that makes up the savage versions.

I think the actual reason is just that Diabolos Hollow had not been used for any reskins up until now.

Model rigging is more resource intensive then making an actual model and Endwalker has a very low number of completely new enemy designs in that regard; Hippokampos as a reskin of Yiazmat being another I recognized rather readily within the same raid tier.

You can confirm this by using Return after defeating Cloud of Darkness. When you re-appear at the start of the area, the ball/cloud is gone.
