Being matched with blacklisted players in duty finder

How is this still a thing? It makes playing the game miserable when you get matched with people in duty finder who you've blacklisted for harassing you. The only benefit is that you can't see their comments but that also means being unable to see remarks on strategy or calling positionals. It basically makes playing frustrating, pointless and miserable when you're trying to complete trials or dungeons for clears or loot but you're screwed from the start with a party that won't work together.

That's weird GM told me once if I black listed a player they would never be able to join party with me in it from duty finder.

Well, that's true of PF. At least partially... if you're leading or the blacklisted person is leading, joining can't happen. If someone is merely a member of someone else's party, it might still work, I'm not sure.

Yes I wish we could blist people out of our matchmaking and not even display their character if they happen to be standing in the same town or field zone. You could eliminate all forms of harassment like that. The only issue I've seen brought up would be using the system to remove certain players from pvp queues to affect winrate, and I guess it could make matchmaking systems quite complex if there's a web of people who cannot be matched together.

I would settle for being able to not display certain characters client side and not display any marks / waymarks they use so they can't harass me by flashing marks on my character or spam emotes or fireworks in my face. Yes some people are consistently that immature and it's hard to present enough information that a GM will think is serious enough to take action on.

Yeah, that's the real issue. Even a game as large as overwatch with very few different queues only lets you block 2, soon to be 3, people this way. FF's blacklist is 200, with players spread across many more queues. It would wreck total havoc on the matchmaker if it acted as a matchmaking block.

You are also correct in that experience shows people would use such a system to try to game winrates and so on.

For the complexity issue, maybe they could add a second level of blacklisting that only lets us specify one or two individuals, and at least those ones we couldn't be matched with. The 200 is more for silencing spammers. Hopefully people don't have lots of other players actively harassing them. And while even one completely blocked match per character would add some complexity to the DF matching algorithm, it wouldn't be so much complexity as to make it impossible (which 200 might well be).

EDIT: But if they do decide to add an option to more completely block just one player, hopefully it's done at the account level, so harassers can't avoid it by just making lots of alts. It's a specific player you want to always avoid, not really a specific character.

It's still a thing. Black Listed players can still be matched with you in Duty Finder. In Party Finder it's simply greyed out but I think you can still join the party.

Common sense is not so common anymore.

Yes and it will always be a thing in DF or else the whole random match making system will collapse thanks to a snowball-chain-effect. (At least as long as they keep the 200 limit for the blacklist and dont add the suggested change that you can "super-blacklist" 2 or 3 people).
Just think about it: If A blacklists B, and B blacklists C and C has D on their blacklist you cant form a party out of those 4 people, even if A never had a bad interaction with C or D. Pair that with having to match a tank with a healer with two DPS and queues will explode.

In regards to PF: No, you cant join a greyed out party. If you blacklisted someone they wont be able to join your party and you cant join theirs. The only thing that can happen is that you join a party that someone else created thats also being joined by a person on your blacklist. So, A blacklists B - now A cant join Bs PFs and B cant join As PFs but both could join a PF made by C.

It's unsurprising that they think that, because they also believe (incorrectly) that the /blist command still works if you type
    /blist add Forename Surname@World

Then blacklist needs to be fixed so this doesn't happen. I could see this happening you get matched with a person that maybe stole from your fc or harassed you. This isn't ok
