Jaelommiss, i dont have anything to give this thread sadly, just wanted to tell you how i enjoyed your way of writing with many giggles. Thank you for making my day![]()
Only by my statics scholar - in the same scenario the OP described, aka Tsukuyomi but also in O6S.
I play as paladin, so I can take the second whirlwind with Hallowed by myself - our scholar was always kind enough to pull me back into the group instead of making me walk the whole distance.
I always want to take it into Ridorona myself (I'm mostly healing there), but each time I forget...
The first time I saw rescue was probably within the week of its release and it was used by a newbie in Haukke Manor HM. They dragged me into AoEs I had just walked out of, killed me and wiped us in the process... I dont think they really understood how the skill works.
Hellluuuuuu
Yes, I have. Being a healer main myself I have rescued many players from certain doom or from taking heavy damage. One of my favorite times to use it that is always welcome is for any stack marker that has that player far away from the group. eg. Zurvan, Susano.
As a tank I can think of a couple of times it has saved me. One was my first time tanking Sephirot and I got pulled into the vortex before the big arm swipe, and also Void Ark when I was going ham on the boss that has a tethered second boss that puts up the wall you have to get behind.
However, even in the case you provided, it still was not used successfully because your healer died. Even though I have yet to do the fight that this took place in, I can't imagine many situations where trading the life of a healer for one DPS is the optimal choice.
I've used it a few times in alliance raids. I find it useful to pull people over to where they are suppose to be like on the Lighthouse when my groups tank kept wandering off instead of tanking the add he was suppose to. My biggest annoyance is that there's about a second-long delay from when you cast it to when it goes off so it's not that great for using it to rescue people out of the one shot hits unless you've predicted that they'll need it.

if its the unloved skill. then say so, don't insult people with red hair who may have step parents!!!! Think before you type such a derogatory comment... its never acceptable to stereotype people into such a demeaning saying and then to propagate it in public, thinking that its acceptable its NOT!!!!!
Don't forget to pads in Labyrinth too. I saw a healer use it on a ranged DPS that kept walking off despite being told keep 4 on the pad. Of course the pads at the end it is good for too and Behemoth's meteor.
I've used it to rescue people from the Tsunami of Famfrit, or to get them out of the dangerous spots in Belias, I've used it to drag people onto the pads for LotA, I've used it to stop people from falling off to Shinryu's Tsunami and big knockback when he does the transition to the final phase, as well as a couple of other spots where it could very likely result in a players death.
Rescue is a good skill, used well its a nice addition to the toolkit, but its not perfect, I've had it used on me when its not strictly necessary and have had my casts cancelled, but admittely, I've had it used on me to good effect in some raids (like the aforementioned Tsunami) so its really not all bad.
Admittedly, I use it to prank a few unsuspecting players at the last 1% of a bosses health, like drag them off Titan or Ozma, I do it at the end so there is no malicious intent, doing it in the middle of a fight is just lousy. Apparently this makes me an inhuman sociopath according to one user here.

Rescue was intended to be a skill for quick thinking and acting healers to get people out of AoEs but it's so slow. By the time I myself get out of an AoE, identify someone who needs Rescued, target them, cast the skill, and the skill actually moves them (because of the lag time) they die. It's really clunky.
Priest's Leap of Faith in WoW isn't THAT much better but because it's truly instant, I can use it a lot more effectively. (Except then they added that stupid Neural Silencer that I had to ban from my raid group because literally turning off the ability for a healer to cast a spell on you no matter how "annoying" you think it is stupid.)
