Part 2 (because I reached my 20-images-per-post limit)...











More images from when we players went to rescue the Wandering Ministrel. I can't remember the details but some noble or politician or wealthy merchant was involved and wanted to keep the Minstrel from spreading news about the pending Calamity... so he placed him in a dungeon and we had to go rescue him from this dungeon-like room.

I think this is how we got the Gobbue mounts as a reward back them... memory a little fuzzy on this one.

Emperor Xande's tomb in Mor Dhona... also one of the twelve stone locations for the "Living On a Prayer Quest" where we had to make a pilgrimage to all 12 stones and "pray" to the Twelve for strength to stop the incoming Dalamud (very basic summary)...








Lots of friends and random players gathered round to let me take a group picture. Back then, you could actually shout and ask for random players to just take a moment to be in your screenshot and they would happily oblige. Yes, people were exceedingly much nicer to each other back then...





A random image from Skirmish... setting was on an island-like region with beautiful beaches but vicious mobs. Fun times.

Part 3

Uldah and Thanalan images. This first one may have been when I first got the third tier of Limsa Maelstrom Barding for my chocobo... can't remember now...
























Limsa and La Noscia region, performing the Caravan Escort quest. I believe it was a GC quest (or leve?) where we would escort merchants and their chocobo caravans








More random Dalamud images... Gaius ships where always there, floating over our heads as well in a sinister manner. I have to give the guy cedit though, he didn't attack us even though we expected him to...

Part 4 - All my jobs and "glamours" (all leveled to 50 back then-- also we didn't have glamours then, so you just had your "city" wear, so to speak). I believe we all had to develop macros back then that you would set up with the job-class and gear... interesting enough, I still have all these gear till date.

I took these images while waiting for the next wave of mobs to show up... possibly just a few days before shut down...

Ixal Camp in Coerthas, not too far from Ishgard's gates. This is the spot (sometimes referred to as the "Pit" where parties could chain very very quickly to level 50.










This was one of the few Ishgardian structures that were standing around Coerthas, likely the original model for one of the fortresses for House Fortemps










This was when we went to storm Nael Van Darnus' Castrum... and it was not easy because the VIIth Legion are no joke. I always wondered about that... fours years later, I found out in the Eorzea Encyclopedia that they had a standing reputation as one of the most vicious legions in the Empire; ever since the time of Nael's father. Mystery solved.

This was all of us making our first attempt to storm their gates...





And the end result for our over-confidence...

Part 6

Hamlet. another battle event whereby we protected small "hamlets" from the beastmen. It also involved us sometimes donating crafted items to the NPCs to assist them on a variety of stuff. Highest score (around 60,000+?) earned a title and achievement.



















The Sultana's palace: Meeting room for the Syndicate and where we usually go to confer with Raubhan.









Battling Nael's VIIth's legion in an effort to destroy his transmitter. The transmitter was apparently controlling the descent of Dalamud (but unknown to us, Nael had additional ideas). It took a few tries but we got it done.











Even back then Curious George was a curious fellow indeed...

Ahhhh,,, and this is how mor Dhona looked back then... very dangerous place back in the day and I think the zone had two main teleport camps... two or three, I forget now.

Part 8

More Nael, performing his "monologuing"... interesting how with 5.0 coming up, I'm beginning to think he might have been onto something even more mysterious than we realized. I still want his armour though.









Meeting with the knights of Ishgard... and discussing with the truly courageous Ser Yuhulmeric (I was sad to find out his fate in Heavensward). His battalion were all clad in red colours and we used to assume this is how the knights of Ishgard dressed until we later encountered the temple knights.

Also, their chocobos were always a treat to see and they were amoung the first NPCs one would encounter that had them. Back then, there were no chocobos or mounts and players had to hike it to the nearest teleport crystal or aether point. Mind you, there was also a limit to how many times we could teleport in a day... yeah, those were some frustrating days.







In Monk AF gear... power overwhelming. Those days, Monk had some truly devastating dps if you knew how to properly use it.

A very small Dalamud, when it was still just the lesser moon hanging quietly in the sky.

Something is definitely wrong with Dalamud.

Dalamud starting to affect the weather. One of the more beautiful effects was when we had a period of aurora and lots of shooting stars.
