    Sorry to "necro" my own thread, but I haven't been on the forums later, and just saw this post. Seriously, dude, that's the most ASININE comment I think I've ever read on these forums. And over the past year on these forums, I've come across a lot of ignorant sh$% on here; so that's saying a lot.

    You have no idea how hard it is for me to refrain from raging about how similar this game is to XI. But to say that the developers weren't even targeting XI fans when they envisioned this game? Are you KIDDING me?!

    This is the thing I wanted from the first day of FFXIV. I dont like that ugly icon action bar in this game and I would wish a traditional battle menu like every Final Fantasy game had before.

    Magic, Skills and Abilities would be sorted and navigation would be fast enough with the traditional menu.

    It seems we are stuck to 30 abilities during the whole time of this game and remember the cap is just at R50 for now.

    Personally, I don't see how they could do a menu system in this game unless they fix the menu system to be much more fluid. That's the only reason it worked in FFXI, if you hit down, it was down, if you hit right, it scrolled the page. It was smooth, quick, and shiny.

    The current menu system takes too long to respond to do this correctly, and what I end up doing is just macroing everything I can't fit on my first bar and go from there. Scrolling through even the action bar is clunky, even with the shift key.

    Ehm...you DO realize many, many people play this game with...a mouse and a keyboard?
    *pause to let you recover from the shock*
    And guess what - the action bar is the best thing a keyboard & mouse player can have!
    Sure, the UI can be adjusted depending on how you play, but making 2 so entirely different versions is just stupid.
    Deal with it, it's not like it's hard to select commands with a controller.

    Why? Just make a new battle menu with the existing system. So you can find your equiped spells, skills and abilities listed in Magic; Skills; Abilities; Items - as we know it from every other Final Fantasy title. They are making a different UI for gamepad users anyway.

    Would make me VERY happy!

    I still dont know how they want to do it when the cap rises. Make a fourth action bar line?
