I can't help to feel Yoshida is contridicting himself with this sale.
I couldn't find a exact quote but i'm pretty sure he said when Level/MSQ skip was introduced over a year ago that it wouldn't ever be discounted - yet here we have 30% off?

Yeah YP doesn't have any say on what the mogstation team does. He's said it himself in a few interviews in the past.

The latest one I remember is from a Mr.happy video. I forget the context but he mentioned YP said something on the lines that the mogstation boss scares him and he has no control on what she does. I forget the item but yeah. It's a completely different team.

According to your way of thinking, SE should be forcing me into PvP and Savage/Ultimate since I'm not doing those things and therefore I'm not playing and experiencing the game. That I spend hours doing other content in the game that I do enjoy evidently doesn't matter. Time for SE to make PvP and Savage part of the MSQ so players have to do it all!

And the moment they did that I'd drop this game like a hot potato and move onto a different one.

While I'm sure they would love for every player to experience everything the game offers, that's not realistic. And so the jump potion is offered for those who don't like leveling and want to get their character into end game as fast as possible.

I doubt the majority of those buying jump potions are new players. Most are going to be existing players who have already played through the content at least once. If a new player is buying one, it's probably because they've got friends who already play and they want to catch up to them as fast as possible. And I've met a few players who did regret using one because they realized they missed out on some potentially interesting content. They've gone back and started new characters from level 1.

But not everyone regrets it and that's fine. There are still others like me who are playing through and enjoying the leveling content while I skip the PvP and Savage that the players who use jump potions enjoy. Nothing is going completely unappreciated, possibly not even Pagos.

We don't know that. We don't have access to SE's statistics. Could be alts like you theorize, could be new people.

Although to be fair, we could also say that Road to 60 (on preferred worlds) is also a bad thing, even worse than the story skip or job potions. Players can't turn off the 60 buff and it's not uncommon to hear new players often complaining that they are way overleveled for their current main story quests, this is even before they reach an expac!

I mean in the end people play the game for different reasons, some for the story, others for the combat or crafting, some of us play it for a bit of everything so if there is a market for people that want to skip parts of the game, well least they have the option. It would be nice to have more opportunities to level or even de-level in the main game, beats having to make an alt anyway.

Operative word being you. Plenty of people either don't care about the story at all, have max level friends they'd prefer to play with or are leveling an alt. If your only goal is raiding, for instance, being gated by hours upon hours of story you aren't interested in will feel like little more than a chore. Jojoya's point is essentially, "don't force people to engage in something they aren't interested in."
