A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system.*Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Most of us aren't making decisions that impact thousands of subscribers, so our words don't matter as much anyway.

This was a statement that should have never been made, and it was also an inevitability this would occur. Otherwise those quitting the game permanently would still have the housing spot, which need I might add is a limited resource as it is

That statement was made WAY before the waves of complaints about people snatching up plots and then doing nothing with them for months, even abandoning the game. Yeah, that statement shuld never have been made, that was a huge example of trying to please the fanbase and going horribly wrong.

At the very least, they could have made it something like 90 days rather than 45. Having 90 days is enough time to decide if you'll be coming back or not.

that statement was made when there were no personal housing, only FC houses, wich needed way less ressources.

also it was the playerbase themself who requestet this, to destroy the forever abandoned houses.


however, he also said that personal housing would be complettely different than FC housing - but it isn't - they just opened the FC plots for single persons, wich was the one big mistake wich caused all those problems we have with the housing system now.


i still think they should destroy every single personal house, refund the people properly and add bigger and better apartments as personal housing. this is the only way i see to solve the problems with the housing system and keep the promises they made back then.

In an interview a while back Yoshi said that they were considering implementing medium and large apartments along with faux-balconies. The idea is in their heads at least.

Plans change. Take all future-looking statements as merely predictions of the future based on current plans and philosophy.

This statement right here, and the community reaction that still happens with it, is why they no longer release future plans to us without a lot of vague communications.

People still throw this around, and won't let it go.

Also, I find it funny people are upset about this statement, but the same thread about the White Raven earrings has people telling legacy players to get over their "special digital item exclusivity"
